Believe it or not, there are people around here who don't share each and every opinion that you have. And they aren't all trolls.

Sorry, but all I did was bring facts and they were dismissed with an "I don't care what the NHL says"

And then concluded that Vegas would be a better city, again, no facts.

I have a hard time believing anyone comes here without any facts and is being serious.

The problem with Canada is that they just don't have the population numbers to support that many teams.

For example California has 37 million residents while Canada has 30 million as a nation..

I just don't understand how you can put an NHL team in a Canadian city with a population of 800,000...

KC at least has a couple million....

The thing is what side of the border would be good to put the team on? Missouri or Kansas?

We're talking all sorts of funding and tax codes etc, so from a financial perspective I think it matters...

I think that idea would be up for serious debate among investors and when it comes to an arena and taxes on tickets etc...

True.

Hunh? Half of the people here don't care what the NHL says, and it's usually justified with some flimsy "Bettman says whatever he wants to get what he wants" defense.

And half of the people on these boards aren't trolls.

Just because the NHL admitted Hamilton would be a good market does not mean they want a team there. Having an NHL team is a privilege, not a right.

I'm not argueing that the NHL wants a team there, they don't, it's obvious. I'm argueing how profitable it would be, the arguement Hawksfan2828 is presenting is that it would not be econimacally viable.

Some legitimate arguements (even though I disagree with them) are that it could harm Buffalo or that the Leafs have a veto. The arguement that Hamilton would not be profitable is based on nothing.

Oh, I see. You're a troll.

I've been here for nearly a half decade...

Vegas is perfect because you have casinos and casinos love to comp and they don't have a pro sports team...You better believe if an NHL club was put in Vegas Casinos would buy mass quantities of season tickets just to hand out as comps or just to use themselves.

Not to mention the majority of those who move to Vegas are not Nevada natives - they come from everywhere - that means potential hockey fans from Chicago, NY, BC etc... It's the new Florida.

Oh and you can put a 20 on a NHL game if you want and win big..

The only problem with Vegas is that they don't have an NHL arena...

So would you like to change what you said to, "Vegas would be a better city in the future"? Because it clearly isn't right now, even Hamiltons ageing arena is better than no arena.

And I'm talking about your posts excluding Hamilton even with evidance presented against your arguement and then to say that Vegas should have a team instead? It's insane. You brought no evidance against Hamilton or against anything I had to say, instead you just brushed off the NHL's comments.

Also, people will argue to the death that Hamilton would hurt Buffalo, to say it would hurt Buffalo and not make a profit makes no sense economically.

Vegas is money Hamilton is not- a franchise only exists to make money - Hamilton doesn't do that...

You want investors to invest millions just so you can have a hockey team - that is not gong to happen unless you find a millionaire er at least half billionaire Canadian that really likes Hamilton...

Vegas is golden (no pun) I think hockey would be like the ponies there.

Why would people not invest in a team that would sell out every night given the ticket drive that they did? Why wouldn't a team that sells out every night make money?

So would Hamilton kill Buffalo or would Hamilton have no fans? Which one is it, I see you argue both.

Hamilton doesn't have the necessary population to even realistically support an NHL franchise...

Lets just say more Hawks fans showed up for their cup parade that what a Hamilton team could aggregate over an entire season ...

Hamilton could not draw 2 million in a season...

But the GTHA sure could. Didn't you just see the discussion where all of the people were worried if Hamilton got a team it would be too good, thus taking fans from Buffalo?

You have to remember, we're talking Hamilton, St. Catherines, Niagara Falls, Kitchener, Mississauga, London, people who can't get tickets in Toronto and all the cities in between.

Please tell me you're joking?

Yeah why do you go to work every day? I suppose stuff is just free and team owners feel the same way...

Yum free OJ... its just free like that - take it off the shelf and its free for the taking - someone squeezed the juice for us because they love strangers ....

How about because Toronto has to pay for the Jets to exist???

Failure is not an option in the NHL...

Yeah its a difficult concept ....

Do you own a hockey club or have any stock in one?

No, you don't do you..

Does hockey exist to make sure you have YOUR hockey fix? are owners obligated to make sure you have a hockey team??

Nope...

You're the one claiming a few people can support an NHL team. I say you're wrong for economic reasons.

This is about money - always will be and always has been...

A few? Southern Ontario has a **** load of Hockey fans thriving for an NHL team that they can actually go see. Those fans bring in profits for the club by attending games and purchasing merchandise. It would be an amazing investment.

So in conclusion, I believe that Hamilton would draw a large crowd to their games and sell much merchandise, you disagree. On the other hand people think there would be too many Hamilton fans that it would ruin Buffalo, I disagree. Everyone is so mixed up on this issue.

First. Hamilton would kill Buffalo

I give you and Jeff Credit for using GTHA though. Hamilton and Toronto need to move forward together.

But there isn't enough that will pay to see the games on a regular basis...

That concept is hopefully not that difficult to understand...

Although I disagree that it would kill Buffalo I find it strange that you're agreeing with hawks that Hamilton would have no fans... It's either one or the other.

I would imagine season tickets would sell out like they did with Balsillies ticket drive and like they did for WPG in 12 minutes (or less.) There's no reason to think they wouldn't, the same goes for QC. All three are great NHL markets, 2 without a team.

I never asserted there was enough fans - I said that there wasn't enough of a population to support the team financially...

IMO, I'd love a team in Hamilton.... It just wont financially work.

Since profit sharing and other CBA regulations...

They are most certainly not in need of profit sharing this year or any of the forseable years to come. And the season hasn't even started yet, so you can't back up your claim anyways.

I'm sure if Hamilton got a franchise it would sell tickets but what about 5 years from now when the team sucks??

You buying tickets then?
