Many people (including me) thought he'd be a beast in the playoffs. Far from it.
That's not a guy you sign long-term

Classic sell high situation.
His value isn't any higher than it was the past 2-3 seasons. More like a sell while you can, before he hits UFA situation.

He had 12 missed shots in the playoffs. 8.7% shooting percentage.
He scores when he goes to the net. Against Washington, he couldn't. Because he's too slow. The days of Tim Kerr are over. Think he's smart enough, just doesn't have the wheels to play effective two-way hockey.
The point is his value in the future will not be any higher than it is right now.
the only problem with moving JVR right now is we have a lack of proven-player depth with higher expectations next year as a team, to get rid of JVR who will probably put up at least 50 points and 25 goals, we will need someone to step up
i'm talking on the wing depth we don't actually have much on his side that is already proven in the NHL
JVR trade value at the moment, probably a 3rd round or 4th round draft choice.
Unless the other team wants to unload salary, maybe you can get more.
