Middle of nowhere
Barely cost anything and I'm not super shocked the Pats would bring him in considering their current receiver corps. But I'll probably be more shocked if he actually sticks.

Has homerun potential but odds are low.

This dude cant even attend meetings on time. He's immature. People really don't change

All this means is nobody really wanted him.
No matter what, his value was going to be limited for a number of reasons:
- already has one team wanting to be done with him
- missed all of camp, so isn't necessarily in football shape yet
- is one strike away from being banned from the NFL
- is an RFA after this season

Yet with all of those questions, a bunch of teams asked about the price.

Players seemed to change once they play for the Pats.

Is that really true for the most part?

Sure they have had a few high profile guys work out but isn't part of the reason they are making this deal was because a bunch of reclamation projects they brought in for WR all failed?

Corey Dillon and Randy Moss come to mind as the biggest stars to do so imo

I feel like teams go out of their way to help the Patriots with trades like this.

Dillon wasn't exactly a reclamation project and they paid a premium for him.

Its overall a decent point. They haven't really been hitting these recent reclamation projects out of the park, they get praised every time they pick up one of these guys for cheap but almost all don't blow up once they get there. Having said that, Josh Gordon is a lot different than the other guys they typically grab and actually has a track record.

meh, I wouldn't really call a 2nd round pick a premium. But you are right, he wasn't really a reclamation project either.

2nd round picks in the NFL are premium.

We'll see how this works out. It is fair to point out that he's played in 10 games since 2013. Is he talented? Extremely but can he stay on the field and produce? We'll see. He does give them a credible vertical threat that teams have to respect which is why I think they traded for him.

Busy week for Boston media scribes, writing stories about Josh being "misunderstood" and helping old ladies across the street.

More detail.

Gordon was granted permission by the Browns to conduct a photo shoot for his “Flash” clothing line Friday evening, but instead, he was participating in the filming of what one source called a “hype video” intended to be released as a social-media commercial. At least five other people were present as Gordon went through football-related drills, and after about 90 minutes of shooting Friday, the source said Gordon pulled up limping while running a 40-yard dash and grabbed at his hamstring.

The shoot was called off, and the cameramen were asked to leave shortly after — around 11:45 p.m., one source said.

Gordon was not present when the Browns’ standard team meeting began Saturday morning. When he arrived at team headquarters, roughly 10 minutes late, he went to the training room. The team’s medical staff deemed Gordon unable to play Sunday in the game at New Orleans, and in the hours that followed, team executives decided they were done trusting Gordon. He was traded to the Patriots on Monday.

Sources: Josh Gordon lost Browns' trust after misleading...

To be fair the guys they've brought in this season haven't played a snap.

Britt and Matthews were released prior to season, both guys they claimed after training camp cuts were released without being active. Fowler was cut 3 days after signing, Coleman was inactive for week 2 and cut yesterday.

Most of them were just bodies to have in case of a practice injury. Matthews probably would've stuck, but he injured his hammy early in camp and couldn't get on the field.

Really if you look at their history taking higher profile cast offs, it's pretty good. The obvious wins are Moss and Dillon. Revis also gave them a great year.

The one big miss was Haynesworth, but I don't think anyone could've made that work. Ochocinco was a pretty big whiff as well.

It's up to Gordon at this point. He has the raw ability, but he needs to keep his head straight and learn the playbook. If he's smart he'll show up early to the buuilding every day, as Belichick I think more than any other coach hates players who are late, and puts in some hard practices.

This has the potential to save Gordon's career. He'd be smart to recognize that and embrace it.

That's a fair point on Dillon, though at that point in his career he was labeled as a malcontent/locker room cancer, and most definitely does not have a 1600+ yard season, on top of another 1500 rushing yards in his final two seasons.

I'd put that one more in the shrewd move category.

2nd rounder for 3100 yards and 39 totals TDs over 3 seasons? Good value.
