What are they saying?
The way I see it is some people bash Pacioretty, Price and Drouin for not having a good attitude, but at the same time they also ridicules Bergevin for wanting players with good attitude... Its ironic.
And they have been bashing MB for a long time for wanting character players. It isnt just about last season.
You are mixing a bunch of things together man.
1) They mock Bergevin because he overstates character. He puts it as the top priority. He might mention talent, but it'll be in passing, character/attitude is where it's at. Talent should be what we focus on, not attitude.
2) It would be fine if he stuck to his word, but he mentions character, then signs guys like Semin/Kassian, or trades for Drouin.
3) People bash Pacioretty, Price, Drouin and any other player when they suck and aren't performing. It has very little to do with attitude.
4) They had a No Excuse sign up when first starting with us, but when they started losing, they removed that sign.
5) Bergevin puts a ton of importance on attitude, yet he has no problem throwing his guys under the boss, blaming attitude/leadership when, again, the issue is clearly a lack of talent.
6) Mr. Attitude had a very smug attitude over the first 4 years here, throwing a fit at a journalist asking a simple question. Since he's missed the POs 2x in 3 years now, he's playing it a bit cooler, still he cuts live interviews short and continues giving terrible responses as if the public is completely clueless or stupid..."a better defensive group" he said...I mean, come on?
FYI, just because you make fun of a guy that's always talking about good attitude yet he's displaying non of it himself, doesn't mean you can't also point out when some players have terrible one too. There is nothing wrong with that.
