Thats on 7 year deal. Here people are advocating for 8x9. Big difference.

I'm just pointing out that Skinner talk is alive and well in other cities. It's not part of advocating for term or AAV, just that there will be other markets talking about him, as they should.

BTW the 2nd rounder we gave up for Jeff will be either 5 or 6 picks below the 1st round pick we got in THAT trade. If he goes we gave that up for a year rental that was totally worthless. What more needs to be said?

Id rather Jason let him get to July 1st than give him 9x8 today. Anyone can push for resolution today as much as they want to, but if Skinner is dead set on 9x8 today, let him go to UFA and see that no one would offer him even 9x7, let alone 9x8.

So, what's the most you would pay Skinner?

What sense can we expect the first of July? Then we will have to trade 2019 1st Stl before the draft for either Kreider or Zucker

Whatever it takes to keep him. We have 2 options:

1) Overpay him by $1.5 million a year (enough to pay for a 4th liner) so the team at least has a prayer of being competitive.

Or

2) Let him walk and watch this team get it's head kicked in on a nightly basis for the next 2 seasons with guys like Olofson, Mitts and Tage being thrown into positions where they are being counted on that they are in no way ready for and totaling their careers before they even begin.

Will fix everything
Again it has always seemed that skinners asking price has been “make me stay” rather than “I want to stay”

Skinner has always wanted to go to market (as he should it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity). Sounds like he hasn’t budged off the rumored 9.5 million ask from earlier this winter.

No one is giving him that.

If skinner wanted to sign it’d be done by now

The roster, as is right now, isn’t a Jeff skinner away from being a playoff team. Sure he could be part of the solution but he isn’t THE solution.

If skinner walks we are still going to spend that money. I still will argue 2 20-25 goal scorers added at 9M total will do more good than one 35 goal scorer at 9M.

Who are you getting, and name names. The only way we even end up with ONE 20-25 goal scorer is if we offer a massive overpay because there are literally 30 better options for NHL players to choose than us. So we will use most of that and end up with a far inferior player.

Names, please.

And it's hilarious we still expect Botterill to make any quality signings at all because he has such a good track record of it...
