Or people dont give a flying f about a guy who will likely be a fringe NHLr
That's a pretty definitive statement for a kid that's been progressing very well.

Is his birthday wrong there? I thought his was September 8th, that says August 9th. That would make him 3rd youngest

Mitch Brown has done a ranking of habs prospect on the athletic. He detailed their game, what they improved, etc. For Struble (ranked 8th), he has been better in almost every facet of the game. After struggling with the pace of the NCAA in his first few games, he's now the best on Northeastern in rushes broken up in the neutral zone (23%, he says it's a lot), his expected goal per 60 is more than the double of the next blueliner on the team, he leads the team in controlled exits percentage and breakout pass accuracy while under pressure, and by a good margin (he didn't specify the numbers). He's also winning most of his races for puck retrievals. After having a rough start, he has adjusted well and he's now a pretty solid dman and at only 18.Making great progress, probably exceeding expectations for an 18 year old kid playing NCAA hockey.

He's exceeded expectations. He's progressing very quickly to playing against better players. That's the key. Because he played in a weaker league last year. What makes you say this? Just asking because I haven't followed him.
Nice work, keep it up broHe's exceeded expectations. He's progressing very quickly to playing against better players. That's the key. Because he played in a weaker league last year.
His offense is picking up and he's crushing guys with hit.
So far so good, he's moving up the chain as one of the better Hab prospects.
Was a bust/boom prospect when drafted. Might be more Boom right now.

NCAA is a huge jump from USHS. He's definitely exceeding expectations. Most were expecting a transition year, he's already playing like a top 4d in the NCAA at 18.according to who? people who didnt know him? Struble has always been extremely talented, He would have been easily a first round pick if he played in the CHL or USHL.
I mean i had Struble in HIGH regards pre-draft that might be why i'm not surprise at all.NCAA is a huge jump from USHS. He's definitely exceeding expectations. Most were expecting a transition year, he's already playing like a top 4d in the NCAA at 18.

You and I were the only posters who were pumping his tires prior to the draft. Predictably, he got off to a slow start but has adjusted and should be a force in the NCAA by next season.

Will see about that when he becomes force in the NHL. I’m objectif about this statement. I will say it once again, Struble was a high school hidden gem. Playing in a lower tier league doesn’t take away his raw talent, add the physical attributes + youngest player in his draft class. Struble wasn’t a reach, he was a steal and the only reason why he slipped this far is the league he played in.That's... pushing it a little.
He was drafted 46th overall playing in an unknown league to most of us.....if he was playing for the London Knights you bet your ass he would’ve been a first rounder.That's... pushing it a little.
You think he has top pairing upside? The tools seem great.
Man it would be something if both him and Norlinder pan out. They're both toolsy as hell.
He certainly has the physical tools to get there. True top pairing dmen also exhibit high end hockeyIQ and that is where the jury is out on Struble at this point in his development.

Same with Romanov, in both cases, I say A+ to our scouting staff
agreed, have been watching a good bit of him and he very clearly has the physical tools to be a top pairing D but he very clearly has issues with IQ as he will make some questionable plays to downright dumb plays. But we'll see where his game is at next year, if Harris turns pro this summer that will open up 2 spots for Struble to take over as Shea graduates this year and they are the 2 most used D on the team. Plus he will get some experience from the Team USA summer camp and hopefully can make the team in December.
The other thing he needs to figure out is when to go for the big hit and when not to. Emelin had to learn it, he has to learn it, he really seems to enjoy taking the body and can really dish out some solid hits but just needs to be smarter about it.
yes he likely would have been a late 1st or maybe very early 2nd. The Northeastern Prep league is the 2nd biggest league in the USHS behind the Minnesota HS league. So they get a lot of scouts up there.
Romanov, Struble, Harris, Norlinder, Primeau, these guys are nice finds by the scouts for where they were found and or picked. Of course we need to see how they pan out but they were not touted at the draft from what I recall so good on the scouts to find and draft them. Now we'll see what they turn into.

I know some posters were trying to compare Romanov to Dumba which I disagreed with but there are seemingly more similarities between Struble and Dumba imo. Both players are very toolsy and aggressive but there are questions about their IQ. Because Struble got a later start in hockey and has developed at lower levels he may very well end up being a higher IQ player and he might just be going through the learning curve that most of these players go through in their 1st two seasons of junior. It is nearly impossible to forecast his projection in this area at this point but his rapid improvement this season is certainly reason for optimism.

Still confident Struble is arguably our best prospect. Have been praising him for months just by having seen his skating and the fact he's so strong. Thank you for the poeple watching him so we can follow how his smarts are progressing. Still very young, still has time to get smarter.
