I wonder what the traveling Jagrs will do for a living now
Travelling "Zdeno Chara's" he's 40 now.

The guy led the LEAGUE in ES scoring per ice time 2 years ago. He's been relegated to PowerPlay specialist. He's too slow to engage in the 5 on 5 game, sit him in a scoring spot and he still has a decent shot... Let him control the puck and he can still protect it pretty well and win a few battles, but overall, he's just not an incredibly useful player anymore.
I'm sure Flames fans would be heartbroken. He had a good runs of games, but he kept getting injured. It seemed after every injury, he was slower and slower. The Flames really don't have the roster space for him. It wouldn't be fair to deny any of the kids playing time. It wouldn't be fair to vets either. Moving guys like Stajan, Brouwer, etc..to the AHL to make room for Jagr would effectively end their careers.
only because Gordie spent 419 games in the WHA
What makes you think he has announced his retirement?

Jagr was a great player for so many years and his years in the KHL are really what affected his NHL stats. Did I read somewhere that he initially went over there because of money/debt problems?
It's his own fault that he won't hit the all times game record, so I honestly don't care. He went to the KHL for money, so meh.

PP specialist?
Can't handle 5on5 game?
I have a ton of doubt tbhif he rests and gets back to full health i have no doubt he can still contribute
he was playing hurt pretty much his entire calgary stint

At least we brought Mike Smith back from the abyss. Guy actually looks happy to play hockey now. At the end of the day, Jagr's groin couldn't hold up though. Love the guy, but he didn't train hard enough in the offseason to be ready for the start of the season.Calgary ruins everything
I guess I should have clarified a bit more. Brouw was OK in the regular season (like you said 40pt player) but he just had another level in the playoffs that nobody saw coming. I am guessing that's why he got that huge contract.
Thanks for sharing your point of view!
