I’m so excited to watch this kid play. He’s one of the best skaters in this draft and he’s 6’3 200 lbs. He is going to be dominant and still kind of in shock that’s it’s going to be for the sens

That's why we traded for Joshua Brown, thought you'd be all over that...
Isn't he about 26 yrs old, he might not be around in a few yrs, on the other hand Kleven in the 2nd rd could be had as could Grans.

I still find it incredibly distressing how easy it was for this pick to leak to the press.

No one asked, but my take:

Skates extremely well. Defends well. Moves the puck well. Very high floor, I’d be genuinely surprised if he’s not at least an average top-4 defenseman. Unimpressive offensive abilities.

Very good player, but not worthy of a top-5 pick, especially not in this draft.

Fortunately for you guys, you already have a 1D in Chabot, so playing it safe isn’t bad by any means. And the Sens’ top-4 could be something scary in a few years:

Chabot-JBD
Sanderson-Brannstrom

Never played it safe, the guys who actually know what they are doing disagree with your assessment of Sanderson, very much so

Meh, would have preferred Drysdale. Gotta swing for the fences. This feels like a double.

I wanted Raymond ... I’m going to go “PD vs Brady” on Sanderson and assume it works out well...

Is Sanderson better than JBD ?

I was Raymond as well. But he went 4. Nothing wrong with Sanderson at all. Top D in the draft has to count.
As others state, sets the D up nicely moving ahead. Still interested in a guy like Barron. And more forwards please.

Not the guy I wanted but lots of smart people like the pick so I'll just sit back and watch him develop. Can't really understate the value of elite skating Dmen in today's game. Seems to be very good at playing the body AND using his stick to win possession. Could be a beast.

I had Sanderson on a preferred short list with Raymond, Drysdale, and Perfetti. Some will say he’s not the sexiest pick, But a 6’2-3 200+ lb D man who can skate like the wind and is a shutdown specialist, with some offensive pop too...that’s pretty sexy. He doesn’t have to put up numbers like Chabot. He just has to suffocate Matthews, Marner, McDavid, Draisaitl and the like, while freeing up Brannstrom to do his thing on the right side. A scout said that if he could choose one player from this year’s draft to shadow and silence McHalloffame, it would be the Sandman.
