I think its actually nice seeing how holmstrom has been a better player even if he has bounced around this year. He should be fine and I still believe in this kid being mature for next season.

Quite surprised to see Collin Adams pitting up such good numbers at North Dakota, and that Ljungkrantz has actually got to play 15 games in the SHL this year.
Only issue w/adams is that we must sign him this season, and he can be a FA if we don't.

Well, I believe we'd need to sign the likes of him, Cockerill, and Ben Mirageas by August 15th.

Otherwise, yes, they'd become UFAs ... who could of course decide to sign AHL contracts, if the parties are interested.

I don't think the pandemic or this truncated season will effect that signing date.

Golyshev has 0 points in three playoff games and is now injured.

His team is on the brink of elimination tomorrow, down 3-1 in the series. He will miss the game.

Roster space is currently at 47/50 contracts (for the islanders), and remember golyshev can make his decision soon as well. lots to do this offseason

Some things never change

yeah I think this experiment has officially run its course

damn shame. different coach, different org, different mentality from Josh... any combination of those three were different, he might have actually developed into a decent prospect. Toss another one into the list of failed Garth Snow draft picks

Yeah at this point, it's just a good lesson that talent can only take you so far. Without the willingness to make sacrifices and support the greater goal of your team, you are worthless

He has already faded into obscurity and will be nothing more than an inside joke among fans years down the line.

Makes you count your blessings... can you imagine possessing that kind of talent and a shot at playing in the big leagues with potential career earnings exceeding 20 million dollars and just f***ing it off?

Just goes to show how off this guy really is. It takes a special kind of self-saboteur to throw that kind of opportunity away, and do so repeatedly.

While I agree Ho-Sang was a hothead who constantly shot himself in the foot... I honestly feel bad for the guy.

Did Ho-Sang get a degree? What will he do if he can't hack it in sweden? Will he go to KHL? His options in professional hockey are rapidly dwindling

See I don't think he was a hothead, I don't see his demise being a result of his anger. It seems he is too ego-centric to succeed in a team sport.

I can't say I really feel bad. Unless it comes out that he is dealing with a diagnosed mental illness, this was really his own doing. Simply self-absorbed and shortsighted. Fresh out of junior, certain mistakes are forgivable. A small minority have the skill set he had, yet the vast majority of people, if given the opportunities he had along with that talent would not blow it time and time again. He had numerous chances to start a fresh AHL season, numerous call ups to the NHL, and has burned bridges with two SHL teams.

Probably does wind up in the KHL though I'm not sure the Russians will tolerate his antics any longer than the Swedes.

Can someone qualified to give an opinion on the subject rank our top-20 prospects as of March 2021? Assuming that Dobson and Wahlstrom are now on the NHL full time, my top-7 would probably go:

1-Samuel Bolduc, D
2-Robin Salo, D
3-Simon Homstrom, RW
4-Ruslan Ishakov, C/RW
5-Bode Wilde, D
6-William Dufour, RW
7-Keiffer Bellows, LW

Beyond that I have no idea. The cupboard is really bare there and, combined with the lack of cap space, makes bringing in a trade deadline acquisition a problem to help support a deep playoff run.

I believe that Reece Newkirk also needs to be signed by June 1 or he becomes an UFA and I like him more than Adams, Cockerill, Mirageas and Golyshev.
i haven't seen much of any of them, just going by stats and reports.

Adams is short but over 200 lbs., and Cockerill is light, but Captain material. Newkirk had a decent year last year. i hope to see all of them in BP next year.

Golyshev hasn't played the past two games for Avtomobilist and has been riding a large pointless streak. I know hes 26 but this does put weight into the matters on if he wants to come over to the island. He's usually a very good player for avto but hes been struggling. Do you think he leaves the KHL to play for us as a third liner?

Tikkanen and skarek are good (for now), but one more? I don't get that logic.

I see neither having even a slight chance of making the big club unless there is a dire situation created by injuries. If there are any thoughts of trading Varly to relieve cap space This summer, they are out the window with this teams goalie prospects.

How important is goalie though? and why trade varly?

The following opinion is solely based on stats and a handful of clips I've seen over the past few years but...can't we all move on from Golyshev?

He's 26 yo and 5'8". He was 0.5 PPG this year. That's down from his production over the prior several years at an age when most prospects are progressing in the scoring column.

Here's the stats for another KHL player this year:
Kiril Petrov 0.6 PPG

There's another Kiril (Kabanov) who's only 2 years older than Golyshev and scored at 1.0 PPG this year in the Danish league.

Nikita Gusev was a far better performer in the KHL than Golyshev and he's struggling this year as a third or fourth liner in the NHL. He was also a healthy scratch recently.

I know stats don't tell the whole picture but expecting a KHL player who's 5' 8" and 26 years old to come to the best league in the world and become even a solid fourth liner is a stretch.

and the KHL's scoring is much more different. I'd wanna see golyshev here in a way because he actually can be a compliment on the wing and a good replacement on the bottom 6 as well
