AgreedThose crappy free agents were signed to bolster the worst PK in the league.
Isles required Martin for the leadership/locker room.
Isles are not filling all their roster holes in one offseason. Isles were in on ROR and are now kicking the tires on Duchene. I would rather slide Bailey back to the #2C position then badly overpay for Duchens 55-60 pts.
The 2019 draft is deep at center and the 2019 ufa class is reportedly a strong one.
Has Duchene expressed interest to re sign in ottawa? Or has all that been quiet?
But the odds are so against having the #1 pick EVEN when being the worst team. Yeah Hughes is amazing and I'd take him in a second, but the Sens #1 pick is a LOOOOOOOOOOONG way from Hughes right now, and still a long shot until the lotto.
This is true, but the post you were snickering at simply said it has the potential to be equal to Barzal. Not that it is definitely equally.
That being said, if the rumour this thread is about has a hint of truth it makes this an even more likely possibility.

Going from worst defensive coach to best defensive coach and a slight downgrade in a top 2 center spot(if they get duchene) makes the playoffs easilyHe said he want to play in the playoffs... neither Ottawa or NYI are making the playoffs. lol
Helps that they didn't trade MacKinnon.Going from worst defensive coach to best defensive coach and a slight downgrade in a top 2 center spot(if they get duchene) makes the playoffs easily
Also you're an avs fan, didn't they just like double their points total last season from The year before?
And the isles still have Barzal so what's your point?Helps that they didn't trade MacKinnon.

Tbh I think the whole argument here is stupid and somewhat salty coming from both sides but it should be noted the avs got ridiculously lucky in regards to the first. Many here are pretending that first was expected to have even remotely close to the value it holds now when at the time of the trade Ottawa just came off of a run that left them 1 goal away from the finals
What the hell are the Sens doing? If they trade EK, Ryan and Duchene they are basically guaranteeing the Avs the 1st OA pick. I don't understand why they would do this. Not fielding a competitive team this year will not serve their best interests at all. They should have given up this years pick if everything plays out like the rumors are suggesting.
I can honestly say I was not in that camp. When the Duchene trade happened I not only expected Ottawa to rebound (they were in a bit of a downwards spiral leading in) but that Colorado should be looking a pick in the top 5 again with their own draft pick.
Hindsight is 20/20 and I remember trying to find out if the 1st round pick was protected or not (obv it was), but I honestly never thought that it would be looking like next season would be even worse. Obviously as an Avs fan I'm ecstatic for the situation, but if Duchene was the kind of guy who did better under pressure who knows. Everything just seemed to go wrong for the Sens last season and arguably it's not exactly gonna get better next.
Cant see Ottawa moving him, after what we paid for him there was likely talk of an extension in place well beforehand...He will resign in Ottawa
leap your dead wrongGirard is going to be a very good defenseman and he's way more mobile than Pulock. I don't think it's easy to compare the two because they bring different tools to the game, but Girard is going to be a very good defenseman and could end up better than Pulock. I don't think the OP is going out on a limb by saying that. I also guess it's quite possible that if Sorokin never comes over and they get Hughes next year then they could quite possibly eclipse the ask from the Isles. Going to have to wait and see on that one. There are a ton of ifs. I think Isles fans need to forget about Sorokin. He's shown no interest in the NHL at all.
You are the guy who said Rantanen's above PPG season in the AHL at 19 was nothing special and somehow much less impressive than Kieffer Bellows post draft achievments. Can't say your projection of avs prospects carry a lot of weight.leap your dead wrong
youre s far wrong youre on another planet.
sorokin will come over Ive told you this before and you dont listen. with him its all about money. hes making more in russia than he can here thats all it is. he will wait til all he can be offered is a 1 year ELC THAT WAY HE IS ONE YEAR AWAY FROM BIG MONEY
you have been told this by me time and again for 2 years and you refuse to accept this. youre also wrong about Girard . pulock will outscore girard throughout his career, Girard is and okay player but he will never score 40 points in the NHL pulock will this year. its one thing being younger its another thing assuming that that means a player has skills they dont have
girard benefitted from a total offense attack from shawnagans pure offensive attackjust like Anthony Beauvillier did and just like beauvillier isntreally a 40 goal 90 oint scorer in reality neither are those numbers a real representation of girards abilities
no i said that Rantanen benefitted from riding shotgun with Mackinnon if youre gonna try and quote me actually do it, dont make shit up and say i said it. i said I think Bellows is better and rantanen only did as well because of Mackinnon. I still believe thatYou are the guy who said Rantanen's above PPG season in the AHL at 19 was nothing special and somehow much less impressive than Kieffer Bellows post draft achievments. Can't say your projection of avs prospects carry a lot of weight.
No it makes you look like a homer.
You weren't aware of the rules number one. You were wrong about Barzal number two. You didn't even know Bellows isn't even permitted in the AHL til he's 20.
And you kept trying to pass off rantanen stats in the A like they were some sort of accomplishment.
Those are the facts.
I've said all along I'm more than willing to wait on Bellows until he has those 2 years to develop.
You want to compare them then, go right ahead but until then it's not a valid comparison
no i said that Rantanen benefitted from riding shotgun with Mackinnon if youre gonna try and quote me actually do it, dont make **** up and say i said it. i said I think Bellows is better and rantanen only did aswell because of Mackinnon. I still believe that
your word means nothing if you cant accurately quote someone and you make stuff up like you just did
He'll be a Hart Finalist next season? Good for him.And the isles still have Barzal so what's your point?
Definitely not on the main boards. We did have the flames pick last year, so it's not as though i am not familiar with the situtation. It's a matter of conduct.sounds like an avs fan. if you had ottawas pick you would be rooting for them to do poorly to no?
Nobody who scored over 80 points in the NHL are someone elses product. Mackinnon scored a lot of his points also because of Mikko Rantanen. Realise this.no i said that Rantanen benefitted from riding shotgun with Mackinnon if youre gonna try and quote me actually do it, dont make **** up and say i said it. i said I think Bellows is better and rantanen only did as well because of Mackinnon. I still believe that

he can Never be a free agent until he signs a stadard Players contract. the Isles own his rights FOREVER as far as the NHL is concerned unless he is traded or released. he could be 50 and those rights remain theirs. he can never be a free agent without signing an NHL contract, how many times must you be told this until you get it
