Any type of racing is a sport, be it on foot, or in a vehicle. Fataldogg could have the fastest car in the world and still loss to professional drivers. It's all the same skill, just used in a different way.
I wonder what he thinks about horseback riding, surely it's the horse doing all the work right?
Cheerleading too
It's not a sport. Sorry, but I'll never change my mind on that. Where are all of the "sport skills" involved in it, personal agility, dexterity, dynamic balance, static balance, hand eye coordination, neuromuscular coordination, or when does flexibility, muscular strength or cardiovascular endurance come in (hockey, football, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, etc.)? When you look at it from a "sports skill" POV, than no, it isn't a sport. You can argue that driving requires all of those skills, but I'm not going to buy it. Tell me how those "sports skills" are involved in NASCAR?
Who considers NASCAR drivers "elite athletes." Personally, I think it is ridiculous. Even less popular sports, like swimming in example, people can still appreciate the athleticism it takes to do what Michael Phelps did. Am I supposed to appreciate the athleticism it takes to turn a corner? I didn't know that athleticism was even required to turn a corner.
At least a 100-yard dash competition involves cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, dynamic balance, etc. A shuttle run competition would involve dexterity, agility, flexibility, cardio endurance, muscular strength, etc. When does NASCAR have that?
