I've seen boards who use bbcodes like the above to hide content. Wonder if the site could add one for NSFW content. That way people can post it to their hearts content and people who don't want to see it don't have to click on it.

Actually the fact that the spoiler tag works...

Here compromise. You post all the sexy ladies you want but in the above spoiler block so people who don't want to see it don't have to block you and don't have to see it but for all who love it can simply click on it and will see the pics.

I feel like that's a fair bridge and compromise.

@Bryanbryoil your opinion on my suggestion?

Just read the first page. Even the bouncy gifs aren’t that bad. There’s no nudity and if it bothers someone they have the option to keep scrolling.
You haven't followed through any of the thread. So you don't know the entire context of whats been stated.

I'll remind that yesterday a post gave an active video screenshot of a young girl bouncing and jiggling for pay. It was a pure pay for porn depiction. NSFW, not safe for here, and completely inappropriate here. Apparently people have profound difficulty understanding degrees and any apparent standard very quickly goes out the door. To the degree that a poster was posting what is essentially pay per view porn, of a youth, here on this board. This apparently being the slippery slope.

If that isn't disgusting to you any further discussion is unlikely to help.

There was no warning of the post in question, no way in which not to see it, it wasn't even indirect linked. It was an active video on the page, in a post, that you end up seeing in a PGD just for scrolling down..

As a Christian man, absolutely agree. Truth be told, I've been seriously thinking about cutting bait with this board exactly for this specific reason. (The loosened censor has been bothering me as well.)

It boggles my mind how we say that rape is wrong, assault is wrong, and women should be empowered, not enslaved, #metoo, etc...yet somehow, we still go gaga for the visual prostitution known as pornography, and we still eat up media which degrades women into objects for pleasure, not humans who are worthy of dignity and respect.
I'm not bothered by this whole thing either way, but there is absolutely nothing wrong or unnatural about being attracted to the opposite sex. I don't feel it has anything to do with degrading women or trying to "enslave" them.

While I agree some of it around here seems to pander to an incredibly young audience, I think it's unfair to insinuate that by posting and enjoying pictures and gifs of gorgeous, scantily clad women we are somehow promoting the whole "rape culture" bullshit. It's absolutely harmless. That said if the majority of posters wish it to stop, I certainly wont fight it.

If some one posted "Bouncy gif" and then spoilered it people should be able to avoid it if they don't want to see such a thing on this board. Ultimately no one wants to lose any quality posters as that's what makes this place the place that it is today. That said IMO there should be compromises that work for both sides of the issue.

Separating GDT's from SFW and NSFW would be the dumbest thing I've seen happen on this site. What a haphazardly, shortsighted idea. Remove that from the poll.
I feel my hiding the NSFW but still site rule following content behind the spoiler tags is the best option. It is imo the fairest compromise and stops both sides from being offended or hurt.

Agreed. I feel like the spoiler option works very well and would be easy to moderate if people forgot.

Mods do have the ability to edit posts correct? So say if someone misses the tag and it gets reported you could quickly just slap a spoiler tag on it?

Lmao, the commercials during broadcasts often contain more sexualized ads of women than the tiny Gifs posted here.

allowing people to post non naked women adds to the fun. Maybe offended posters should stop browising Instagram, Facebook, and the web in general as there are plenty of sexualized pop ups.

a case of a couple people trying to ruin the fun for all. Start blocking posters that post sexualized gifs it’s that much of an issue for you.

Brutal post.

1) The ads on TV have nothing to do with HFOil
2)Those tiny gifs are against the rules of the site.
3)Allowing people to break the rules adds to the fun *for some*
4)What's on social media sites is irrelavent to this site or the topic at hand.
5)The existence of sexualised popups is also irrelavent, and not something that's present on this site.
6)A 'couple' people appears to be the majority of those who have weighed in on the thread
7)It's not the 'fun for all', or else this discussion wouldn't be occuring.
8)The onus shouldn't be on posters to actively seek out and block posters
9)There's not way to block seeing only a persons' linked images, perhaps they would still like to see the rest of their posts that are contributing to hockey discussion.

I don't mean to go after you specifically, but it encapsulates a lot of the points I've seen expressed. For whatever it's worth, I like seeing gratuitous sexual images, but I also recognize this isn't the place for that.

Personally, I find you and Melissa, or Clonelissa as I affectionately call you two, kind of a rallying point, like TOPPEP / Rocket Horse of 2006. I don't know if I give you the benefit of the the doubt because I'm more familiar with you as a user here, but I don't recall you posting anything that made me uncomfortable to look at in public or infront of my kids. I'm not active enough to know if Melissa posts were the gateway to the more vulgar stuff, but if they were, then I will allow you to fall on the sword.

It's a slippery slope. You are OK with it, but others are not. So now you are taking the other side (defending Cloned pics) because you are OK with it? While others are not? You see how that works, eh?

PS: Don't shoot the messenger. ;)

It was my idea, I just woke up over here to this thread and I'm trying to find ways to keep everyone content. I take full responsibility for it whether you think that it's dumber than dog shit or not.

Thanks OP for posting this. I've thought the same thing and have avoided GDTs and PGTs because of it. It has nothing to do with people being overly offended or too PC. Most of us are adults. We come here to discuss hockey. There's a million places online to get your porn fix. All the borderline softcore porn GIFs have no place here.

We're not 14 year old boys that need to be visually simulated every page of every thread. And not to mention how much of a turnoff it must be to the female posters here. Not trying to shame the posters who have been partaking in this behavior but I'm hoping they tone it down going forward and we can get back to arguing with each other about line pairings and playoff standings.

I'd probably delete it and tell them why then they could spoiler it or get thread banned.

My question: what do these gifs add to the board at all? They are not even remotely related to hockey and are against site-rules, even if they are under spoiler tags.

I don't mind the spoiler idea, but I just don't see the point in this NSFW content at all.

You turn women into objects of sex and they become mere objects to some people, don't you get that?

There's nothing unnatural about being attracted to anyone, but this is a sports forum.
Can you imagine that someone who isn't a hetero male may want to browse this site for Oiler content?

Yup.

Also, keep on mind there are younger kids here too, and yes, I know they probably see much worse stuff, but do we really want to validate that the objectification of women should be accessible everywhere? There should be some "safe" spaces where people can go for non-hypersexualized images.

You try to keep everyone happy, but the inflexible posters rudely try to push their agenda though, everything else be damned. They don’t pay you enough, Bryan. lol

I don't think a single person has had an issue with super girl, just for your record keeping.

Just from the first page.

It’s a hockey forum. You’re not alone. It’s annoying as f***. It doesn’t add anything to the conversation.

I’m sure there’s a place on the Internet where a bunch of guys can talk about that actress from Supergirl or whatever. I hate how nothing is being done too.

There's a difference between a woman that is fully clothed and a woman that is near nude.

That said, if there are posters here that take offense to @Cloned's posts, I'm sure he'd stop posting them. The whole point of this is to make sure everyone here is comfortable and is able to enjoy the forum.

And other people see the point.

Imma be completely transparent the world is too black and white lately and no one is willing to work together and compromise. So I think any time we have a way to compromise that literally doesn't hurt or offend anyone, let's just take that route.
