McDavid could threaten to sit out.Even if he asked for a trade why would the Oilers do it? He has 7 or 8 more years on his contract and they won't get fair return.
If he went public and asked for a trade (I agree he wouldn’t), they would have no choice but to move him. It would be absolute chaos until they did.He isn't going to ask for a trade and wouldn't be traded even if he did.
Because if he ever did ask for a trade, and made that public, he would a cancer to the team and organization until they moved him.I mean, not in the way you think. McDavid can ask for a trade but how could the GM possibly move him without completely committing franchise suicide?

One of the silliest posts in the history of the internet.
A member of an online hockey forum poses a question and somehow that is the fault of Toronto based media? What puerile commentary.
What a garbage post.
btw - I don't watch television other then to watch sports and movies so don't pretend I'm sticking up for the media, I loath the plastic media culture.
If he does it next season (assuming they won't qualify for the playoffs again), it will just show how weak McDavid is. Ovi for instance since he came into the League in 2005 played on a much weaker teams believe or not until like 08-09 and especially first 3 seasons and he didn't request for a trade. People need to chill over here and stop being sorry for McDavid. In the end of the day, he decided to signed such a big contract for that long. He knew where he is going to. If situation will continue for 3+ years, thats a difference story
Sounds fairHe won't ask.
But im fine with what Savard said.
But screw it
To Arizona
Matthews
Nurse
Kapanen
To Toronto
Mcdavid
To Edmonton
Ekman-Larsson
Keller
McDavid: 'I thought my leg was in two pieces'
But keep spreading those rumours like a school girl...
LOL ya ok...Edmonton trades the best player in the league who is 23 and signed long term and also lose their best dman in Nurse for a replacement dman and Keller? Come on...He won't ask.

That is hard to believe, could be true but they still finished first of their weak division in 2007-2008, making the situation quite different.
If they miss the playoff next year that would be quite different than the Capitals just earning their third division title in a row.
Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux are maybe better example of player having to wait quite a lot before having a team that have any remote shot at winning the cups around them.
