I’ve got a rather hilly 10k this morning.

Yesterday was fun. I ran my two miles in the morning and then took the kids to do the freedom trail.

There was a mistake with the buses so we ended up there for an extra two hours.

Lots of steps.

I devoured a hot fudge sundae upon my return.

What running app do you use? I’ve been on Strava for awhile because I have friends that use it for trail running, mountain biking, and backcountry skiing. If anyone on here uses it I’ll add them.

None,

I just have the default Apple health app.

Just did a VERY hilly 10K in 52 min and change.

“I could go one step farther if I wanted to.”

Been working on cutting/splitting about a cord and a half of oak. Then bringing a tractor in to take care of the stumps. More brushwork after, of course. Won’t get all of that done before they play again but we will see.

Edit: Hell, wrong thread. Above is somewhat related to health. Stopped keto in February. Have gained back weight buy feel healthy again. No real gyms up here, so doing band exercises and the free weights I have following some of the routines by athalean x. Some gains w definition

The best exercise is hiking with my dog and having a good beer at the top. Still a little to wet to run. Couldn’t get a picture of Paige where she looked happy to be there

Me and my better half love to hike. Nothing too extreme, 2-5 hours usually, there's something about getting to the top of the hill & having a large sandwich.

My go to outdoor activity is mountain biking though.

A buddy of mine that mountain bikes all the time keeps telling me to get one. I think I’ll get one after I graduate next year, there’s a lot of good places to go around here. Mount Abram is building a downhill mountain bike park that will be the biggest in Maine.

Why do athletes like Bob Harper (Biggest Loser Trainer) and Dave McGilvray (Ex BAA Chief and Marathoner) have heart attacks? This explains a lot

I am L(p)a positive.

I love it, all-mountain full suspension bike is my fav toy ever. Climbs well and descends more comfortably over the roots and little rocks than hardtail mtb.

Get a bike, you won't regret it.

Anyone else using this break before the Finals start to try and get back on track with your exercise and nutrition? I'm trying... some days better than others.
I've been ok at staying with my gym routine (as much of a routine as it can be after just two weeks. I didn't go after work last night, but there were tornado warnings, so I didn't want to be out and about. But I've been going regularly, and have surprised myself at how quickly I've been able to up my time on the elliptical. I've also lost about 10 pounds, which is a good start. I don't use a food diary, but I have been a lot more careful with what I eat, and more importantly, how much.

I know many trainers are opposed to leg extensions, including Jeff Cavaliere at Athlean X.

I don't do them year round, but I did put them in my leg workout earlier, and will likely keep them at least through summer. I actually can feel them targeting my quads very well, and I don't mind doing more isolation exercises during the brutally hot summer.

I also went for more reps with less weight on my compound lifts. So I went ahead and put both squats and dead lifts in the same workout, which I don't usually do.

Now I can put something else where dead lifts were on back day, and more importantly, they are done for a week. ;)

10 years ago I had 2 knee MRIs due to pain. The ortho surgeon instructed me to never do another leg extension.

I'm careful with them, and they aren't a staple of my routine. I also don't go as heavy as I could, and I try to do a slower, 3 second negative. I can feel that really targeting my quads.

I did permanently drop the upright row years ago, and that's another exercise many trainers caution against.

Now that the weather is better I'm doing more walking and in general spending more time doing outdoor things. You can burn a ton of calories mowing and trimming your lawn, just saying....

This sprained ankle is making me feel like a lazy piece of shit and I hate it.

I know to get back as quickly as possible I have to be a good patient. It’s been less than a week and I’m already going stir crazy.

Exercise is so important for my mental health and it’s really starting to weigh me down that I can’t do what I enjoy.

It’s temporary and I’ll be fine, but definitely having a bit of a pity party for myself this morning. Was supposed to be in Newport this weekend for the 10-miler down there and we cancelled the trip.

A relative recently has been diagnosed with mild diabetes 2 due to excess sugar in her system. She is in her 40s now

so now she needs to clean up her diet and exercise with more intensity. She has also started taking apple cider vinegar, and says that has helped

her fear is slowly losing her vision due to this...

=T . Anyone else have a tip, not resorting to taking medical drugs?

Many people get their blood sugars under control by normalizing bowel flora and eliminating grains. Whole grains are not healthy, they raise Blood glucose longer than pure cane. Exercise is great, but diet is the key,not exercise.

The positioning of your feet go a long way towards keeping these safe. I always make sure my feet are pointing upwards. While you can get some crazy quad definition by turning them in or out, that's fool's gold because you will almost certainly tear your meniscus.

I do upright rows with Dumbbells rather than Barbells. I find it reduces the likelihood of an impingement because you have more freedom than you would with a barbell.

With exercises that are risky a good rule is to take the weight down a few notches and increase the reps. I prefer that option to not doing them at all.

Just started getting into trail running with a 1.8 mile jog up a ridge that I’ve hunted for years last Thursday. Tonight I thought I’d see if I could jog up Whitecap because it’s clear and fairly cool, perfect weather for it. Turns out that it’s also the perfect weather for mosquitoes to feed, completely underestimated how vicious these f***ers are this time of year. I made it half a mile up before turning around. Looks like I’ll try again tomorrow in the heat of the day.

Does anyone here trail run? I’m thinking it’s going to help me with my mile run time a lot. Also, for some reason I get bored with squats and lower body workouts so running hills seems like a good substitute.
