In Boston, he can play on his own line. Less pressure. They are not getting him, but he could do that in EDM too. COL as well.
The book on Hall should be out by now: if he's your best player (or even second-best) you're probably not a great team- but he's made too much most years in his career to be second fiddle anywhere. That's not to say he can't be "elite" in the leading man role, but then the team needs to be built around him to succeed and it's not easy to do that with a winger.
He has full control of his own destiny to change that this off-season, which is why I'd be surprised if he took big dollars from a Nashville or even Buffalo. Outside of a career-ending injury, that money will still be there next "summer". Now's the time for him to chase a Cup on a short-term deal and then re-evaluate what city/country he wants to spend the remainder of his career in after.
