If anything else, this season is showing us how last year absolutely everything broke our way, including a once in a century pandemic to get us into the playoff picture.

If the result of everything breaking your way is getting shelled defensively while being buoyed by 1. Vezina calibre goaltending or 2. 3 games of other worldly .980sv% performances from Demko, then the whiplash is going to hit hard when you remove multiple key contributors to those teams that found the first sliver of success in five years and don't build on that team.

Yep, agreed. The Wild series was a toss up really, being 5 games. We won the Blues series mostly because the Blues had a massive COVID outbreak and were just recovering from it. Demko dragged this team into game 7.

And we traded a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and a prospect to get there.

Other than Rafferty in the 1st..I thought the young D guys played ok....but yeah, there was a lot more wrong than that.

This game certainly can’t be blamed on the kids. Rafferty had the one rough play, but he was being thrown into the fire. Juolevi as well - to go from 7-8 minutes a tonight to getting more than that just in SH minutes is insane (and Juolevi was good on the PK, I thought)

It was unforced errors from a lot of our better players. Schmidt and Petey handed the Habs breakaway goals. And so many other bad turnovers, soft plays and positional breakdowns...

The kids being thrown into the fire can’t bear the blame for that. There’s a big problem with the team as a collective right now. Green’s finally admitting as much in his presser tonight.

Maybe there is something to veteran mentorship afterall. But the real Gs were Tanev and Markstrom, not Beagle, Sutter, Eriksson, Roussel, etc...

Not going to lie. Seeing Toffoli make us his bitch sucks knowing we could and should have kept him. The only hope is it wakes up management to how bad Benning is.

As for the game itself. Myers continues to be a giant disappointment. How do you take such a boneheaded penalty when we're down 6-3? I'm worried about Petey. Just 1 assist is dreadful. Demko has also looked remarkably average. Granted, team defense hasn't exactly helped
Ownership finally told Jim to fix his mess and he couldn’t.
All he had to do was not sign Sven past his rfa years but he gave him 3 years and after an injury plagued concussion season he wants to dump him. Something is terribly wrong with your assessment of a player that you want to give him 3 years without anyone competing for his services yet the next year you want to move on from him.

Sven at $3.3 and Jake at $2.5 is $5.8 mill.

sooner or later the Canucks have to pay for their mistakes. No more kicking it down the road.

NO Saints with Brees retiring finally eat the $22 mill of dead cap that he had with all of the restructured contracts he signed over the past few years.

Also - I know Sutter and Beagle are probably our least popular forwards, but Roussel has been a waste of a roster spot since the qualifiers versus Minnesota last year. Does nothing, contributes nothing other than bad reputation calls, and he was the low minute man among forwards again tonight. Sitting him for MacEwen, Bailey, Eriksson or anyone would be a good move.

We may have an inept coach and a moronic GM but at least we have the right captain god damn it.

Thats not nice Dave
