We were not going to re-sign Mike Smith so we are happy we were able to get a great asset for him.

Unfortunately, it was time to move cheap on from Allen as it seemed it was just never going to work here. Smith will play out the season as the starter and we will reevaluate our goaltending in the offseason; with Husson being our plan in the long run.

We love Mangiapane's upside at what we see as our shallowest position for the future and hope he is able to put it all together.

We feel this return gives us a better return than what we gave up to acquire him. We recouped the picks while getting a great replacement 2C, a young versatile winger, and a rock solid D prospect.

The New York Islanders have traded forward Josh Ho-Sang to the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Mattias Samuelsson and forward Vladimir Sobotka.

We are very happy to add Samuelsson to our prospect pool. He was in the first round of our draft list at the 2018 draft and he definitely has a bright future. Sobotka will also add depth to our team, especially with Nelson and Filippula being unrestricted free agents after the season. We believe it was time to part ways with Ho-Sang. The kid has upsides but also has a lot to learn about being a professionnal, on and off the ice.

In other news, Tom Kuhnhackl has been placed on waivers.

It was tough to give up what we gave up but we felt we needed a bit of a shake up after a disappointing playoff run, we wish Kyle, Ryan and Dante the best. We feel ROR gives us a solid 60 point scorer along with him being one of the best defensive forwards in the league and we hope to see that chemistry him and Matt Duchene had in the past.

We feel the couple of moves we made give us one of the best top 6s in the league while still keeping our bottom 6 very solid to go along with our big top 4 on the back end still in tact. We are likely done but will still continue to listen.
