EDM,DET,BUF,CAR games all coming up at home..most with 2 days off between each game..team is getting healthy again (which is rare in January for the Canucks)...stay tuned.

4 mediocre teams at home till the end of January, most of the other teams around them will have made up their games in hand by that point.

Where they are in the Standings by the end of the month will be telling on way or the other. FWIW, the Western conference race for the last two wild card spots looks more like a snail race at this point.

Agreed...the Canucks though (being a bottom 5 consensus team),shouldn't even be in this conversation.

I had to laugh out loud when granlund scored that goal. The guy is just the king of garbage time. It's almost like some form of trolling.

Look on the bright side, at least you get to invent another arbitrary category for the purpose of discounting players you don't like. Remind us how few ES goals with a goalie in the first 59 minutes of the game after eating spaghetti Granlund has in the last 18.5 days, so we can talk about how terrible he is.

First goal in 12 games, and it comes in garbage time. His other goal before this streak started? Empty net goal..to make it 5-1. It’s been 20 games since he has actually scored a meaningful goal that meant something to the game.

Consider your goals per minute 5 on 5
Consider your goals against per minute 5 on 5

If it's unlikely that you're going to score a goal within the next 3 minutes 5 on 5 (and you must remember that you can still get scored on without the empty net) then you must pull your goalie.

If you pull your goalie at 2.5 minutes left or 1 minute left and you score after 30 seconds you put your goalie back in regardless. If they score on your empty net with 2 minutes left rather than 30 seconds all you've denied yourself is 90 seconds of 5-on-5 play.

You're thinking about how pulling the goalie hurts your GA without considering how not pulling the goalie hurts your GF at a point in the game where your likelihood of getting an even strength goal is marginal.
