He’s not a shooter. He’s not a qb. If he takes the zone as the d then he’s got three guys standing still at the blue line waiting for him to cross the line who can’t do much for him.
I'm not saying he's the right choice I'm just trying to provide a reason why RBA is putting him out there. Zone exits and entries are his strong suit. Aho is skilled enough but has a heavy tendency to drive wide and get himself squeezed to the boards.

slavin is nowhere close to the norris level, stop with that crap. he's good dman that is ideal #3.

If Slavin could handle the puck, he would be a decent PP QB. So you add 10-15 PP points to his 25-30 ES production, and get a 40-45 point defender who excels against tough competition. That's the Norris mold, a good year gets him 50-55 and a parsimonious series of main board threads whether Slavin's defense outweighs Rielly's extra 20 points on a PP that features Matthews, Marner and Nylander.
