Post-Game Talk: Game #3: Home Opener vs. Leafs

You could question AV's decisions as well. He splits Brass and Zucc after just two games, puts four new lines out there, that means no chemistry.

Then Zucc went out, and Nash went out after the 1st, and the whole lineup became a complete chaos. Hank collapsed, not just his fault, Ds couldn't find each other.

Poor coaching...what a nightmare of a game. They better show up on Tuesday.

Good night.

9-2 against San Jose, 6-0 in Anaheim, and then 5-2 in St. Louis. 3 games, 20 goals.

That was a stretch last year around this time on the calender. Nobody seemed to care late in May after game 6 against Montreal.

Uhhhhhh... wow negative nancy over here. Nothing else positive?!

How about:

- Henrik's hair looked DIVINE
- John Amorante's blue suit was ON POINT
- Cam Talbot's mask design was FIRE
- John Giannone's commentary was able to induce my first nap in over a year! That's a reason for celebration in and of itself
- On the bright side, Stu Bickel wasn't on the ice.

The list goes on man. The list goes on.

Best post ever candidate.

Welp, that was awful. Fun seeing Duclair play live, pretty much all I got.

Guy that makes the Rangers pump up videos made a much better video then the one they showed tonight before the game on last years playoff run. I knew they would, but so stupid not putting in plays made by guys who are not on the team this year. It was a review of last years run, ehh whatever, time for this grouch to go to bed.

Yesterday everyone was mad that the lines were bad

Now we're mad because the lines got changed

Last year we had a new coach and a new system to learn. We also started a LONG road trip.

What's the problem now? The system should be down pat and we just came home and got embarrassed.

You'll all be singing a different tune when your brains catch up to mine...

Let's take a look at that massive brain of yours.

Just like Duclair making the team.

As late as 9/18/2014, you said this in a "prospects you're interested in" post:

Anthony Duclair (just to gauge how close he is as he's not likely to seriously challenge for a NHL spot this season)

Just like Hayes making the team.

As late as 9/15/2014 you said:

SeventySeven said:
At least one of Miller/Hayes will be on the roster for opening night. Mark my words.

Later in the post you called Hayes a "wildcard;" said if he stuck you thought he would be on the wing; and that he might push Stempniak (winger), Lombardi (center), and Malone (winger) down.

Easy to get 'em right when you're predicting everything/anything will happen. We're missing a 3C, so one of the two top options for 3C will make the team -- what a shocker of a prediction! Also an even tougher prediction to make once the team's 1C goes down.

--

Just like Conor Allen not being the second coming of Scott Neidermayer.

As late as 8/27/2014, you had a trade proposal that included Allen on the 2nd pairing, replacing Staal, and saying that would work for the Rangers (meanwhile, a week earlier saying Allen wouldn't make JMoore expendable -- but he does Staal?):

SeventySeven said:
McDonagh Girardi

Just like JT Miller not being consistent enough / ready to be counted on as our everyday 3C.

In the same post dated 9/15/2014 above re Miller/Hayes you said:

SeventySeven said:
Miller has nothing else to prove in the AHL. He's put up a point per game there. He's goin to have to really suck to find a way to not crack the roster out of camp.

As for the rest? Your posting history doesn't go far back enough to fact check. But you keep on rockin' it.

But I've been spot-on about every other major discussion point / debate on here. You'll catch up; don't worry.

AV coached teams are notorious slow starters, and this group of players was already not known for being fast starters.

We'll be fine.

Now it's the excuse that AV teams are slow starters. Ok.

I would've more easily accepted the injury excuse.

When/if we get blown out next game, someone is gonna bump the "this is a bad team" thread. Don't even pretend it's not gonna happen.

It's way too early to panic. The team always feels tremendous pressure to 'perform' for the home crowd, during the home opener.

They didn't keep it simple and majority of the boys sucked tonight outside of a very select few.

Great atmosphere around and inside MSG for the game despite the horrendous product on the ice.

It's WAY too early in the season to even freak out.

All I know is this...the Islanders are a good ****ing team and are going to be hyped and ready Tuesday.

They better be ready for this game. Gotta always stop the bleeding sooner rather than later.

I said it last week of camp AV screws around too late in camp figuring out his roster his team isn't prepared for the season and it happened last yeAr and again this yeAr.

Not surprised at all didn't play one exhibition game with a full NHL squad absurd

McDonagh standing up on the blue line during that PP and trying to bat the puck back in was the worst play I've seen from him in a long time. Two other Rangers were there, how about back skating so JVR doesn't get a breakaway and score? Okay. McD also blew coverage on another goal, the one after G got hit in the face with the puck, for some reason he left the front of the net open while just looking around the side of the net.

Team defense was awful... very, very bad. Boyle is a massive loss and the last two games show you why. Hunwick is garbage, but honestly, J. Moore looks even worse than him.

Stepan's importance to this team is very clearly evident. Can Brassard handle the 2c role? Idk but his first 3 games have been VERY weak, goal or no goal.

Stempniak and Duclair were the two best Rangers on the ice.

Frankly, we looked like an incomplete team. Well, we were missing our 1C, 2nd pair D/PP QB, 2RW.

Brassard seems to have taken a nice vacation during the offseason after getting his payday. Well, I know it's early, but his play this year (after the new contract) was supposed to ECLIPSE his play of last season and so far he looks FAR worse. We'll see, but if he looks this invisible, against the better competition he will face as the 2c, I would look into acquiring other center options.

I'd actually be more concerned if they didn't suck to start the season. Last time we opened the season with a very good record we missed the playoffs, right? They'll get it together.

We knew this would be the case before July.

This team needs better top 4 defender than Dan Boyle. It also needs a better 2c.

Brassard is a great 3c, problem is his new contract (for the time being) has a caphit of a 2c. He should've went balls to the wall training this off season to come flying out of the gate, but it seems he didn't. He has the skill to capitalize on mismatches when playing a 3c role, but idk if he can handle 2c matchups, which I've thought all along.

Dan Boyle will be fine with Staal, sliding Klein down to try and blanket the dumpster fire that is John Moore.
