...He's stuck in his ways and has some irrational intense loyalty to Dan Cleary.
Thats the way it is. Cleary (after years) has earned the trust, it will take months (years?) to erase the memory of his past heroics.
...I don't think Quincey is a better player than Kronwall. Maybe its luck, maybe its his opposition or just the forwards on the ice with him performing better, but somehow he has been far more effective than Kronwall this season at even strength.
As unorthodox and erratic Q has been he is having better results. Learning to play defense myself, I will say it is mostly chance (luck) that allows goals not to be scored on your shift. It's just the way the puck bounces.
The Wings were missing more than 1/3 of their line-up including their entire top line, most of their 3rd line, a top 4 defenceman and a bunch of depth players.
No team will be able to contend missing this many players. The rebuilding process has been underway for a while now, which is why our most effective players tonight were 2 call-ups from the AHL.
Hopefully Tatar at least has earned a regular roster spot when everyone gets healthy.
This can't be understated. Our team is riddled with injuries, and still the very proud RW forum was expecting a competitive game, which we got. I mean this is insane to now have Datsyuk out? Who's next, Zetterburg and Filppula?
I love that even after a game featuring that many horrific defensive breakdowns where nobody on the ice looked like they knew what they were doing, half the posts are still about Dan Cleary
He has sucked, that's well established. We don't need a hundred posts a day beating that same drum (especially after weeks of same).
Get used to the thunder. A blind man could see how ineffective, weak, and decrepit the play of DC is, especially compared to the chances he used to create out of hustle. Things just used to go right for him. Wings fans are not blind, they have a great awareness of each play, so the honesty will fly as it should. I am peeved that Cleary won't step
himself down and tell coach "hey I'm not where I should be, give me less responsibility." I yell watching him but ultimately feel so much pity for what is happening.
...With that being said though, if you want the Wings to make the playoffs we have to have Datsyuk healthy. He is clearly the life blood of this team and one of the few forwards capable of creating his own offense...
**** it's like 2 different teams. The Detroit Griffins vs. the Motown Marvelos. Datsyuk is a phenomenal hockey player, what a personality.
Zetterburg looked sore. So did Filppula. Fil had his ABSOLUTE worst game I've seen this year. Behind the plays, his timing was off, mismanaging passes, etc. He must be laboring. Too bad there isn't an excuse for Brunner though!
Stupid penalty and some frustrating overplays. I know he's getting schooled every shift and that is great for his development. No pain, no gain.
Damn for a while there we had the lead and it would have been an amazing victory. I do feel Anaheim deserved the win, seemed like only a matter of time. Well on to the Wild on HDIA, that is a true rivalry. Last year was the Sharks but the year before that was Minnesota, an all out war. Lets Go Red Wings!
