Not sure if it was a Marchand and Pasta issue or Bergeron still fighting through his injuries

1st line just looks so stale to me. Pasta & Marchy just dangle around with it too much and never attack the net. This line was a major problem 5 on 5 against the Blues as well. Switch Pasta and Kuhlman up and see how it goes.
Marchand and Pastrnak think they’re the Harlem Globetrotters when they play together, works great on the powerplay. Kuhlman or Ritchie should get a chance on Bergeron’s line. I think some muscle would help them out, way too many one and dones in the offensive zone going back to last season when Bergeron came back from injury.

Marchand and Pastrnak are two of the most skilled wingers in the NHL today, but they’re not particularly strong on the boards or cycle. They could use a winger that creates space and puck possession. That probably isn’t Ritchie but they might as well try that now.

Bergeron won only 8 of 20 faceoffs. :help:

Why have him take that many? The other guys all did better than him.

I'm not convinced he's as healthy as he would have us believe.

He's not 100% that is clear. He looked like he was struggling a bit in the third, not skating the way he can.

Great point

Dallas will end up something like 27-10-4 at home

This was a biggie as crazy as sounds

They were 24-14-3 at home last year so you're probably right. Adding Pavelski should help. Roope Hintz is amazing. Plus they had some injuries to Klingberg and Bishop last year as well. That's a very good team.

Hell baby
1st line has been their worst line

That’s gotta change eventually, although I’d like to see them move Pastrnak off that line

Raises eyebrow ... this is Bergeron, who "was confident" to make the opener.

So in between the 2nd and 3rd there's a chance a facehugger baby burst from his chest and he still played.

I would even guess overall Krejci feels better but he just isnt the Dark Knight of the Bruins like Bergy .... It's only a flesh-wound!

I've 'ad worse.

I never do this but fell asleep after the first and work up at the end of the third.

The guy that was injured...any news ?

I will take the win.

Par Lindholm is growing on me, I definitely liked what I saw from him last night. So happy for Danton Heinen to score, he looked so much more confident when he took that shot and he needs to keep doing that. Charlie Coyle was excellent and I was very pleased to see Backes playing well on the fourth line. Rask didn't miss a beat either, I'm liking the new Rask more and more.

I'm done with 63-37-88. That line needs to be broken up right now including on the first PP unit, it simply isn't working anymore. #88 and #63 are too busy trying to make people's jaws drop with their fancy passes to nowhere instead of just driving to the net or making the simple, direct pass that would lead to a scoring chance. I'm sure Bergeron isn't 100% healthy, his faceoff % continues to be less than Bergeronesque and in the third period especially it looked like he wasn't skating well. Cassidy needs to bench Mr. Perfect if he won't take himself out of the lineup. He's 34 now and this groin issue simply is not healing completely enough for him to play at the level we need to have him play at and that he expects of himself. IMO leaving him in the lineup the way he is now risks worsening his injury and possibly losing him for the season. Yeah, yeah I know the doctors have cleared him to play but he's just not the Patrice Bergeron we've come to know and hasn't been since the Cup Final. I'd rather have him miss 20 games now than 20 games in February-March, if it comes to that.

Bergy line looked like a line who hadn`t worked much together in TC and preseason. Yeah yeah, they`ve been together for years and should happen seamless but that`s not how it works, they`ll be perfectly fine but I`m also a fan who`d have little issues if they stuck with it or shifted maybe Heinen in Pasta`s place for a bit but so early to start with that stuff

Liked the games from Kuhlman, Backes, Heinen, Lindholm and Ritchie up front, thought the boys played a nice roadie, jump out to a lead, fell into a protective mode which I would have liked to have seen change a bit but that`s a solid Stars team albeit one who seemed to have lost 2-3 players during the game. Tuukka very good as well and the D was very good

Anyways, 2 pts, all we want

Bergeron just needs more games under his belt . He looked behind everybody and he is . Didn’t he only play 1 pre season game ?

That could well be it- as iron as he is, it is still a fast, physical game and he didn't look like he had his skating legs quite going. And while I hate to say it, he is 34- it may take a few more games.

he essentially had no camp, had the non contact jersey removed near the very end and one pre-season game, he`ll be fine

it looked like the puck was made of flubber the entire game .. good first game of the season win as both teams showed a lot of rust.. lindholm has some sneaky skill . a couple times he made some good passes through traffic and a bunch of times he corraled the puck with his skates off bad passes and kept going. i like him..

Bruins played a solid team game last night, led by their defense. Stars are a very-very good team, committed to playing a sound two-way game.

Carlo,Grizz,Clifton,McAvoy,Krug, Coyle and Bergeron, I thought were the best Bruins along with Rask,I also like the way Lindholm played. Marchand needs to stop trying to be the Brett Favre of the NHL because it isn't working. His high risk passes when he doesn't need to make them results in turnovers and odd man rushes the other-way.

alsoo... my favorite part of last night , and i like backes in the lineup, but at one point it was a 2 on 3. backes linemates fly up the ice . backes passes 5 feet behind them because he obviously cant keep up, puck goes right to the boards and bounces right back to him.. jack casually says "backes with the self pass,"....i laughed and it reminded me its the little things like that that make me so happy hockey/bruins are back in my life

One really good period followed by two meh, but against a good Stars team on the road. A win is a win and it damn sure beats last season's opening night
