I’d guess we will know the prognosis by the end of the year FWIW. If he has some sort on congenital issue with his back, hip flexors, pelvis (or that sort of thing) then whilst he’s growing it can be horrendously difficult to manage. He’s now at an age where height increase is unlikely and core wise he will be naturally getting much stronger, especially with the right program. If it’s related to rapidly changing body mechanics, due to growth or a congenital issue we are now coming up to crunch time very soon.
Of course I’m speculating as much as those saying he’s done, but it’s possible and given the lack of comment from the team it’s where I’m placing my bet. It will hurt his development but perhaps slow it down rather than completely derail it. Different sport obviously but Stevie Gerrard was plagued by back and groin issues until he stopped growing, his career ended up ok.

Gabe Valardi is a dynamic solid two way player. He is gifted in his vision and skating abilities. IF he can make a full recovery which is very likely he will be a top 6 player for us for a long time. It is on him.

The worst case scenario obviously is that he never plays for the Kings, but it isn’t the worst thing in the world that we suck and won’t be contending next year. If he is in a rehabilitation program and gets healthy for good, that would be great. Vilardi has future 1C written all over him. He and Kopitar will hopefully form a very formidable 1-2 punch.
I know the doctors that have been hired to fix the problems that GV is dealing with (not personally but I know who they are and who they have worked on in the past) and I know that they are the very best that money can buy. The Kings view GV as a potential super star and they are doing everything they can to get him back to good and continue his development.
The team is dealing with GV's problem(s) as they are a very high priority. Makes me believe that he will recover and resume his march towards being a top player for us.

You would expect management to be proactive with the kids health and afford him every opportunity to get the best specialists. It’s a matter of his ability to put on skates at this point. Beyond that the question is about strength and fitness. He’s behind on every imaginable front.
Expecting GV in the NHL anytime soon isn’t a realistic hope IMO. Because of his age I don’t think he can still play juniors, but I might be wrong. If he has to make an AHL roster after almost 2 years on the shelf, that’s a major setback for all concerned.

If he's healthy he won't have to "make" the AHL roster. He will be put in the AHL starting lineup.

He's immediately by far and away best player on the Ontario Reign if he is sent to the AHL. He doesn't have to worry about making a roster except for the NHL one.

Point(s) taken about where he fits in the bigger picture when you look at the organizational depth. But besides health, which equates to putting on equipment and skating, he has to show in practice that the rest of his mind and body are ready to compete.
To do that against men after only competed against boys is tough for a young man just getting started. It doesn’t help in my mind that he’s back home at the parents house as far as we know. It’s a long shot is what I’m saying and a bit tragic.
