Yes, definitely said that. But that would mean Nylander has to equal Shaw’s or Janmark’s play (in that scenario).
Is this some only top 9 role? What if he simply looks going better than Highmore or Wallmark(if he was on wing) or whoever else.

He played very well, some of his best game efforts on the 4th line. Forchecking in ways that lead to goals and points. It's not like he's top 9 or nothing

So if Nylander is guaranteed a top 9 spot then the Hawks wont be having Kurashev or Suter on team since Stan see's Janmark as a top 9 player and we still have Shaw

C = Toews , Dach , Strome
LW = Kubalik , Nylander , Janmark
RW = Kane , Debrincat , Shaw

I don’t think Nylander is guaranteed a top-9 spot. Nothing Stan or JC said supports that.

In fact, they laid the ground work for sending younger players down to Rockford if need be.

KBS said Nylander is guaranteed a top nine spot, I was just responding to that.

He could certainly end up in another role or in Rockford, that’s all I’m saying.

I don’t think so either. I think he goes to Rockford to start the year.

At least, that’s where I’d place my bet.

Really depends on how he shows out in camp. But I think if he does well, he could end up on Toews' or Kane's line and see if he can maintain good play. That what happened each time after camp, but because he's so inconsistent he couldn't keep it up.

I didnt say he was guaranteed a top 9 spot, I said that it's likely he starts the season with the team and gets another shot with skill players before getting shipped to the Rock. They're going to give him every opportunity to show something before they send him down. IMO if they send him down, then they're admitting defeat. If Nylander has to go back to the AHL he's probably done.

re bold: Well, everything Stan Bowman said over the past week is exactly opposite of that. But, if you say so.

Also, you basically did say Nylander is guaranteed a top 9 spot. This was in response to BWC’s top 9 lines:

I know you hate him, but Nylander is going to get another chance with skill players. Just accept it, and hope for the best. They could stick him on any of those lines.

Admitting defeat? Nylander shoulda been in Rockford last year...All year, getting heavy minutes.

Simply ridiculous of him to say. It’s like he didn’t listen to anything Bowman has said about sending young players to Rockford.

I mean, Bowman flatout said any of these young guys going to Rockford does not mean they’re failing.

The message from Stan and JC regarding the young players was always about playing the long game. Whether it meant sitting them down for a game, sending them to Rockford or letting them play in roles that would pay off later in game 60 or 70. He is willing to play a younger guy over a better vet early in the season if they feel the younger guy would improve to the point of being better or equal to that vet later in the season. JC mentioned this philosophy brought about some 'friction' last year with the vets (note-JC didn't like using the word 'friction' but I don't remember how he rephrased it).

Yep, basically every option is on the table and none of the options being used equal admitting failure — including sending someone to Rockford.

Nylander is different because he's an older forward prospect. He's 22. He either figures it out in the next year or two or he's finished. Usually forwards are what they are by 24. He's running out of time.

If they didn't send him to the Rock last year, why would they this year?

Boqvist probably was rushed a bit and he's a defenseman so that's a completely different situation. He was called up due to being the best option in Rockford, more than anything else. He's also close to the youngest major prospect of his class.

Maybe the solution is black ace squads vs black ace squad. Each team brings along their ahl rosters and they play too.

Though probably not great for ice

Good deal for both sides

For Sens there is no downside if he falters and for Gally if he has good year he can parlay it into longterm deal in Ottawa or somewhere else

Galchenyuk is well past the reclaimation-project stage. He's just another overrated prospect from the 2012 draft who keeps getting chances because of draft position 'pedigree'.

Ottawa basically signed the cheaper, slower, Russian Hobo version of Duclair.

Gally had (51 pt and 41 pt) seasons as recently as 17-18 and 18-19

He is only 26 yrs old and really only had one truly bad year offensively (This past year)

He is getting chance because he has proven to be capable of being NHL player (Had a 30 goal season in 2015-16)

No, what happened is that he got taken off the PP in Pittsburg because for the first time in his career, he was playing on a team with offensive depth, and many superior options.

In his 41 point season, 21 of those points came on the PP.

In his 51 point season, 24 of his points came on the PP.

His 30 goal season was 5 years ago. At this point, given he's never crossed 20 since, it's pretty easy to call it an anomaly.

If you want to pay him as a PP specialist, so be it. But at 5v5....

In 17-18 and 18-19 combined Gally had 1.33 points/60 at 5v5. Last year Nylander had 1.95. So even the two not horrible years you picked, Nylander had nearly 50% better point production 5v5.

Heck, even if you take Gally’s two good years (14-15 and 15-16) he had 1.93 points/60 at 5v5...below Nylander.
