I would do either. Some Leaf fans are not high on Hamilton but I think he would be good in Blue and White.
Hamilton hasn't enough term to make him even close to being a better acquisition than Pesce, not to mention the Leafs need D men that are defensive specialists, little need for more offensively gifted D men imo. Pesce isn't sexy, but his game is highly needed on the Leafs.

Agreed. I was looking at Hamilton, not his contract.

I imagine Petan will get the Ennis role next year.

I think it will depend on what Ennis wants in his next contract.
He may re-sign here?
Some of these players may be add-ins to other deals made in the offseason.

Hutch should be the back up
I'd thank sparks for the comments and send him down now
Yeah those comments irked me in a similar way to Gardiner's odd comments from a couple of his post game interviews from last playoffs.

However, I don't think Hutch has been able to prove that he is a better option than Sparks, which is really saying something lol.

What did he say that wasn't true though? Team needs to play with some emotion.

Hutch - 2.64 GAA 914 save %
Sparks - 3.24 GAA 902 save %

I know sample size etc but just visually, Hutch made routine saves look routine and I like that in my goalies.

I don't care who the backup goalie is, if the team is going to play this way he won't succeed, Freddy looks like absolute **** right now with this tyre fire of a team in front of him

Fix the bloody team defensively, then fire Sparks into the sun because of his sucktitude

Apparently TOR may be signing RHD Alexander Yelesin from Lokomotiv.

Had 10 points in 55 games this year. 23 years old. Apparently hits everything that moves.

I'm all for free wallets but If Ozhiganov, Zaitsev, Holl stay what do we plan to do with him?

Rielly who the hell knows?
Muzzin Zaitsev
Dermott Rosen

Is he going to be our #7-#8 or Marlies fodder?

I feel like Zaitsev is possibly traded this offseason. Seems like Brown is gone for sure and Zaitsev I'm like 70/30 when it comes to him being moved. I feel like if we're still interested in Pesce we'd have to involve Kadri in that deal. D could look like this next year

Rielly=Pesce
Muzzin-Liljegren
Dermott-Rosen/Yelesin(if we actually are interested and want to sign him.

Ozi.
Holl
Liljgren
Hollowell
Rasanen
Duszak
Gordeev

That's only 8 RHD who are signed/have NHL upside in the org. Adding another might not be a bad idea. Let Gordeev/Rasanen/Hollowell rotate in and out. They can work on conditioning and drilling their weaknesses and still all get playtime.
Play Liljgren and Duszak as the top 4 D on the marlies right side.

Gordeev is a lefty but we have Lindgren as well on the right side.

Not that I doubt you but do you have proof?

according to who? Haven't seen him linked to any NHL team anywhere

31 Thoughts: Pettersson, McDavid could test year-end awards thinking - Sportsnet.ca
12. There’s an obvious connection for Toronto GM Kyle Dubas to be at Tuesday’s Lokomotiv/CSKA KHL game: Lokomotiv’s Yegor Korshkov, taken 31st overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2016 draft. He’s a left-shot winger, and they like his talent. Injured for a good chunk of the season and only in his fourth game back, the goal could be bringing him to training camp in September.

Toronto has also dipped into the Russian free-agent market with Igor Ozhiganov and Nikita Zaitsev, and there are two potential contenders from that game. The first is 29-year-old left-winger Sergei Andronov, who was selected by St. Louis in 2009 when current Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen was running their drafts. He spent two seasons in the AHL before returning home. The other is 22-year-old defenceman Alexander Yelesin. There is definitely interest in him.
