So Freddy can choke it away? No thanks, seen enough, time to move on.Freddy is a good goalie and will revert back to his average. And we will make the playoffs.

Or now practically the whole league will know how to get him to open his 5-hole. Anyway it seems he has become the third amigo and stolen Nylander's spot - at least on his mask.We can only hope that being at the All-Star game with top players from around the NHL will help Freddy regain his confidence...that is unless he gets absolutely lit up, lol.
Surprised he didn't put Cody Ceci on his mask.
man he made a huge save there towards the end of the period, leather larceny!!!I knew freddy would do well in this all star game....they play defence as well as the leafs so hes use to this
He has two great saves and one was from a Connor McDavid chance.man he made a huge save there towards the end of the period, leather larceny!!!
It's funny how in the first game he let in 4 goals, however at least he looked better in the second game only giving up 1 goal. That's if you want to take his play in an All Star Game seriously.Hopefully he gets his confidence back up after a good showing and some time off. We are dead in the water at the moment and need a restart to get back in the playoff picture.
Well, at least Andersen wasn't the cause of the Atlantic losing out on the million dollars!Had a great game in the final! Hopefully that will help him relax and get out of his head.

Who moves on from a goalie that had 5 quality starts in the playoffs last year. Who moves on from a goalie who has faced the most shots in the league over the last 4 years and is still among the league leaders? Who moves on from the goalie who is among league leaders in metrics over the last 4 years?
DeRonzan was consistently trash most games every playoffs not just the odd one like Andy and is a very flawed player , he's a sg that can't shoot the 3 and is a black hole defensively . The opportunity presented itself to upgrade to one of the top all around players in the league at minimal cost and at a similar cap hit all be it for just one season and the team took it since DD was never going to lead us anywhere .You move on from a player when they can't get it done when it matters the most. He's been mediocre in the playoffs with a few good performances here and there while doing poorly when we needed him to be at his best. At some point nice stats matter less when you can't get it done in the post season.
Going by your thinking, the Raps should've never traded Derozan because he put up pretty decent stats in the regular season year after year while stinking it up in the playoffs year after year. But hey they should've just stuck with him and keep letting him fail rather than understand that you've reached the limit with him and it was time for a big change and along with firing Casey, trading for Kahwi was the key as to why they won their first NBA championship rather than getting knocked out after a round or two with Demar leading the way yet again.
If Freddy has another bad post season assuming the Leafs make it there, then its seriously time to consider trading him or if you really must keep him, then just let him stay until the end of next season and simply not resign him and get a better goalie. If Freddy can't put together even one very good/great playoff performance during his current contract then clearly he isn't the goalie that will backstop the Leafs to a Cup and its time to move on than waste any more time on him.

and while i'm not a fan of Dubas i'm sure if a similar situation presented itself he'd also jump on it
the problem i have with people bashing him endlessly is that they believe every other goalie in the league never goes into a slump or lets in a soft goal and all you have to do is go through a game thread to see how people seem to believe every goal we score is unstoppable while 90% of goals we give up should be saved
there's not a goalie in the league that would make some in this fan base happy since they've convinced themselves that how the team plays in front of our goalie has no bearing on how many goals we give up
under Keefe we play a wide open offensive system that bleeds high quality scoring chances against and i don't mean just counting shot attempts from danger scoring areas that don't come close to telling the quality of the scoring chance , i mean endless odd man rushes/breakaways as well as leaving players wide open in the kill zone with plenty of time and space to get a great shot off
the most shocking part is how many fans seem to believe how a team plays in front of there goalie has no bearing on how many goals a team gives up and the teams that play tight defensive hockey to limit quality scoring chances are clueless to believe this helps limit goals against
likeI don't say this often but what a great post, quality, well thought our response.
He was having issues long before the pull.I think him getting pulled got into his head, take a peek at his stats since that yank.
Emphasis on Average.Freddy is a good goalie and will revert back to his average. And we will make the playoffs.
