NHL 19 - Franchise Mode - Vancouver Canucks - 2021/2022 Season

March 1, 2022

One of the most eventful trade deadline months concluded yesterday afternoon, which saw several big names change teams.

The Nashville Predators blew up their defense, shipping out Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis, and Mattias Ekholm, acquiring four 1st round picks and top prospect Valeri Perezhogin in return. P.K. Subban remains the lone survivor of Nashville's top 4.

Boston re-acquired defenseman Dougie Hamilton from San Jose, along with depth defenseman Mark Barberio, further bolstering their odds of repeating as cup champs. San Jose received a pair of 1st round picks and prospect Ludvig Holmstrom in return. Dougie Hamilton signed a 5-year, $27M contract with San Jose this past offseason, but never seemed to gel.

San Jose acquired another pair of 1st round picks and a handful of prospects in a few other trades that saw Ian Cole and Kevin Labanc join Montreal and Antti Suomela join Philadelphia.

42-year-old Roberto Luongo is expected to take over the starter's role with the Chicago Blackhawks as they try to compete for a playoff spot. Luongo is currently in the final year of his infamous 12-year, $64M contract that few, if any, expected him to finish out.

The Vancouver Canucks sat tight at the deadline, making no moves. The Canucks currently sit 2nd in the west and 8th overall in the NHL with a 35-21-8 record, although just 8 points separates the 2nd place Canucks from the 9th place Golden Knights in the west, so nothing is guaranteed at this point. Fans, however, remain optimistic.

I need some advise from someone who knows better than me, I have a 21 yr old goalie in AHL who now sits at an 58 rating but has High Elite potential. His trade value is among the highest in my team so I'm wondering if he will ever reach his potential or if i should trade him this season? How big are the chances of him accually reaching his potential and how long can it take?
It's unlikely he will develop into much, though it is possible. If you want to make use of his trade value, soon would be the time as he is likely to start losing value shortly.

Fredericton Warriors 2019-2020 Season

home-share-bg.png

Well, the time is nigh. Training camp has concluded, and the Fredericton Warriors now set their sights on preparing for their 2nd season in the NHL. Fans are anticipating progress as the home opener draws near. "There's a sense of optimism as the campaign begins" GM Daniel Alfredsson said. "Our group is rearing to get the ball rolling, that's for sure". Below, find the opening night lineup for the Fredericton Warriors.

Andrew Cogliano - Colton Sissons - Bobby Ryan
Boone Jenner - Jordan Weal - Brett Connolly
Jordan Martinook - Riley Sheahan - Connor Brown*
Justin Abdelkader* - Byron Froese - Curtis Lazar
x. Patrik Berglund, Michael Mersch, Josh Leivo*

Patrik Nemeth - Anton Stralman
Jon Merrill* - Jason Demers
Brandon Manning - Mackenzie Weegar

Al Montoya

The Warriors began their season in winning fashion, beating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2. Colton Sissons led the way with the game winning goal and an assist, while Keith Kinkaid stopped 22 of 24 shots he faced. Justin Abdelkader also wasted no time showing Fredericton what his game's about, laying some big hits and even getting into a scrap with Alex Tuch. "We have eachother's backs out there, and are enjoying the team mentality" Abdelkader said post-game.

Wf8EjtO.jpg

Fredericton's record through 20 games sat at 8-10-2, around the same pace they sat at during this time last season. The team's most noteworthy struggles came in the crease, as the backup position was a weakness. Keith Kinkaid had earned all 8 wins for the team, posting an 8-6-2 record. However, Al Montoya faltered in his action, going 0-4-0 with a 4.24 GAA and .876 SP%. He was waived as a result, with 25 year old Antoine Bibeau summoned from the AHL. Bibeau would win his first start 4-2, but sprained his thumb in the process. Montoya was recalled as a result, cancelling out the change at backup. Offensively, Jordan Weal led the Warriors with 5 goals and 14 points. The struggles at backup would continue through the first half of the season, but MVP like numbers from Kinkaid sprung the Warriors to a 20-17-4 at the halfway mark, good for 19th in the NHL. Below, find Fredericton's stats through the first 41 games.

Notes
- Weal enjoying a breakout year, Brown has been a solid addition, Connolly and Jenner took steps back
- Stralman playing slightly below last season's pace, Merrill steady so far, Demers playing well
- Kinkaid has been our MVP all season, backup situation could be addressed via trade

Though individual forwards have enjoyed success this season, production as a group has still been underwhelming. The defence has provided steady play as a group, despite some guys taking a step back. Goaltending has been the best and worst position depending on who starts, as Keith Kinkaid has effectively put the team on his back this season. "Keith is a huge part of our team" GM Alfredsson said. "Getting him a capable backup is something we've explored doing, but we still hope for one of our guys to be able to rebound". As the stretch drive gets closer and closer, it will be interesting to see how things shake out for the Warriors. Will they make moves to bolster the club's shot at the playoffs? Will they struggle in the second half like last season? Stay tuned.

This sim engine is bull****

A built an absolute titan in Ottawa. 8 years in, 4 straight 50 win seasons. Not a single appearance in the conference final in that run. The best i did is i came within a game of the cup final is when i barely got in with like 97 points.

Like i'm not expecting to win every single year since even the best teams in real life can get upset, but when you win 58, 56, 56 and 54 games in a row you expect something.

No point in even trying to build a team (which i enjoy doing) when you get screwed by the wonky simulation algorithm

These were well balanced teams too. Strong scoring punch, very solid two way game (Logan Brown and Colin White essentially turn into Bergeron lites if developed properly), depth right down to the 4th line (lowest rated player at the worst was 80 i believe), strong goalie rotation, strong defense.

You started an Ottawa Franchise and expected to win a cup? Now do you see the errors of your ways?

Finally got a team to the Cup Final in Franchise Mode - playing as the Senators, with ‘Melnyk rules’, in 2020-2021. Basically, I cannot sign or acquire anyone unless they fit within the team budget - the team’s cap sat around $64mil first two seasons, up to about $66mil this season, basically I use the cap floor as our cap ceiling  I also used the doomsday scenario that Stone and Duchene are not re-signing, so I moved Duchene for our 1st back from the Avalanche, while Stone went to the Stars for Valeri Nichushkin, Julius Honka, and a 1st.

Finished dead last first season, 24th in the league second season, then qualified for the postseason as WC1 this season. Round 1 we beat the Capitals in 7 games, Round 2 we swept the Hurricanes, and in the ECF we defeated the Bruins in 7 games. Onto the Finals, we faced... Arizona. And they were good, as they knocked us out in 5 games to win the Cup (game 5 went to OT where Conor Sheary scored the Cup winner for the Yotes).

Super excited with how this team is coming together, lots of youth making an impact. Here were my lines for the playoffs;

Tkachuk (87) Dahl (86) Nichushkin (86)
Batherson (82) Tierney (82) White (84)
Balcers (78) Brown (82) Pageau (80)
Smith (80) Backes (78) Ryan (80)

Chabot (90) Ceci (84)
De Haan (81) Honka (84)
Djoos (79) DeMelo (78)

Anderson (80)
Rittich (80)

Dahl was the 1st overall pick in 2019. You’re probably wondering how that goalie tandem got us so far. Rittich was the starter during the season, posting 31 wins. He then allowed 8 goals in our first playoff game, so enter 40 (!) year old Craig Anderson. All he did was get us all the way to the Finals, was hoping for a cinderella story but not to be. Anderson actually signed a 2 year extension after this, so maybe he can be the Gordie Howe of goalies!

Was doing a franchise mode with Columbus traded both Panarin and Bobrovsky in year 1. In year 7 I make it to game 7 of the conference final I intervened the SIM to find for that game, the game glitched and gave me a phantom Artemi Panarin for game 7. Unfortunetly now the game freezes when I try and super sim again :(

(warning filmed on my phone so cringe quality)

New York Americans Expansion Mode

Preview and 2018-2019 NHL Season

BREAKING NEWS: Americans return as Seattle Expansion falls through
June 20th, 2018
In a shocker, the Expansion process between the NHL and Seattle has fallen apart. Just hours after we first heard the news,we are now here at a joint press conference with Gary Bettman. He's here with ownership of a new franchise joining the NHL, but as of now we are unaware of where this new club will be located. Along with ownership and Bettman is a new face none of us have seen befpre. Introduced as Brant King, he will be the man tasked with building the new Franchise from the ground up. Yes, the newest NHL franchise will have a rookie GM at the helm. Now, let's head to Brant King as he says his first words:

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to grow as a GM along with this franchise. The New York Americans were this city's first team, and now I can guarantee you thy're going to be the best. First up on our to do list is the Expansion Draft. We've got a very experienced staff here that's going to build a team that's got some good young faces, as well as a team that's going to have a leadership corps to build out from.

Not looking too far ahead, we've got a special NHL Entry Draft coming up. We've got the 5th selection, whih should get us a pretty good piece to build our future from.

In order to give us a chance to get some marquee FA's and become competitive year 1, the league has shifted the deals of all NHL'ers ahead one year, so there's some nice names in that pool that we'll be definitely talking to.

Then we start our season. Detroit has shifted to the Central to allow for Carolina's transition into the Atlantic. That sets up some pretty fun matchups for us with the Rangers, Islanders and Devils.

BREAKING NEWS: Grubauer traded to Flyers for prospects, pick.
Sept. 14th, 2018
The New York Americans goaltending controversy was solved before it began. Ahead of the clubs Preseason opener, they elected to trade Philipp Grubauer to the Philadelphia Flyers for prospects Philippe Myers, Pascal Laberge and a 3rd round pick in the upcoming 2019 Entry Draft.

The Americans enter the season with James Reimer and Joonas Korpisalo patrolling the crease. By no stretch do they have elite goaltending, but both netminders have gotten the job done in stretches for their former teams. If they alternate hot streaks, the newest team in New York could ride their success to a Vegas-esque Playoff Birth. If not, and their inconsistencies prevail, the Americans could be in for the typical long expansion year.

images

Former Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon comes into the season as the Americans #1D. He is also on an expiring contract. He's never had this big of a role before, so now is his chance to make a play for a big FA deal. Theres rumored to be interest from both sides in negotiating a long term contract with NY, but they will wait before committing too long. Nathan Beaulieu, Radko Gudas, Ben Lovejoy, Slater Koekkoek and Kevan Miller round out the top-6. Jordan Oesterle begins the season as 7th defenseman, while Brett Kulak is in the AHL.

Bobby Ryan and Andre Burakovksy healdine a forwards corps full of reclamation projects, and potential breakout stars. With no true game breakers up front, the Americans will have to hope for Bobby Ryan to rekindle some of his early career offensive output, and for their gamble on Burakovsky to pay off. Hurricanes selection Brock McGinn is a breakout candidate who showed some serious potential last season, while Ty Rattie has an opportunity to finally put all of his skill together. Another breakout candidate, Colton Scissons, showed promise 2 playoff runs ago and posted a career high 27 points last season, so he brings potential up the center ice for New York. Veterans Chris Kunitz, Matt Cullen and Patrick Eaves fill out the roster while Chandler Stephenson, Tyler Pitlick and Marcus Foligno round out the bottom-6. Curtis Lazar and Johan Larsson begin the season as depth forwards.

Matt Martin, Kyle Clifford, Peter Holland. Seth Griffith and Jacob de la Rose are in the AHL.

Things would be looking a lot bleaker for the Americans if not for their stellar GAPG numbers, primarily bloated from the strong play of both James Reimer and Joonas Korpisalo. Expect regression from both, which will plummet New York to the bottom of the league.

Jordan Oesterle didn't get much action in the first half, but his play warrants more down the stretch. Ben Lovejoy and Kevan Miller represent low-cost, depth additions for contenders, and I wouldn't be shocked if the Americans got an overpay for Dillon. No one could have expected he'd handle the #1 role so well. He and Beaulieu look like good bets to be resigned, but anything can happen.

Ty Rattie and Brcok McGinn have been studs among duds up front for the Americans. Bobby Ryan has failed to rejuvenate himself, while Andre Burakovsky has failed to break out in what will likely be his best opportunity to ever. Chris Kunitz has put all contenders on notice that he still has game, but the Matt Cullen signing flopped. After starting the season as a healthy scratch, Curtis Lazar has cemented himself as a mainstay.

BREAKING NEWS: Questions loom with less than a month until Trade Deadline
Feb. 1st, 2019
The New York Americans have many questions heading into the stretch before their first Trade Deadline. With a record of 23-22-4, the Playoffs are all but out of the questions as they sit 7 points out. The obvious option is to sell, but who? Do they resign Brenden Dillon? Do they attempt to move Patrick Eaves? And what about Chris Kunitz? Do they keep their best veteran or move him?

All this will be answered and more at the Trade Deadline on March 1st. Tune into TSN for up to date Trade analysis.

Trade Deadline

tradecentre-2017.jpg

The TRADECENTRE broadcast team:
Host: James Duthie
Trade Breaker Desk: Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger, Pierre LeBrun, and Gord Miller
Instant Analysis Panel: Ray Ferraro, Jeff O’Neill, Dave Poulin, Martin Biron, Pierre McGuire
Trade Bait: Craig Button
Deadline Panel: Jamie McLennan, Aaron Ward

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Duthie: We have finally arrived at the 2019 NHL Trade Deadline. It marks the unofficial 3/4 mark of the season, and the point whee most teams will either go all in on the Playoff Push or admit defeat and wave the white flag. Today is also the New York Americans first Trade Deadline. Their rookie GM Brant King has made just 1 trade to date, but he is now tasked with the job of deciding who stays and who goes amidst their 29-29-5 season.

Ferraro: You know, their record is really quite impressive. Teams were much more careful this time around to not throw away picks and players for the purpose of protecting other guys, so they didn't quite get as good of a draw as Vegas did.

McLennan: James Reimer and Joonas Korpisalo have done an incredible job in nets. Goaltending was a question heading into the season, as was everything, but the goalies have really silenced the critics.

images

McKenzie: The Americans have pulled the trigger on a deal involving Patrick Eaves. Boston is acquiring the veteran, and New York is receiving prospect Jakub Lauko and a 2019 4th round pick.

images

Miller: Speaking of Boston, former Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller is on the move. Drafted by New York in the expansion draft, the 31-year old is heading West to join the Vancouver Canucks. The Americans are getting a 6th round pick in the upcoming Entry Draft in return.

Poulin: I like the pickup of Lauko for the Americans. Not a sure thing by any means, but a good prospect added to their pretty shallow pool. They're also collecting plenty of picks.

O'Neill: But what are the quality of those picks really? They're not adding anything inside the Top 96, so the odds don't look great.

Ferraro: You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket. They may not get anyone of value with those selctions, but they wouldn't have the chance to if they didn't acquire the picks. They weren't going to sign Miller and Eaves anyways so it's better to get something for them.

images
images

LeBrun: The Florida Panthers probably didn't expect to be sitting atop the Eastern Conference at the Trade Deadline, but neither did we. Now, they're adding veteran depth to push for their first series win since their Stanley Cup Final loss in 95-96. They've acquired Matt Cullen and Ben Lovejoy from the New York Americans for defensive prospect Riley Stillman and a 2019 7th round pick.

They've also signed FA defenseman Kevin Gravel to a contract for the remainder of the Regular Season, and called up Brett Kulak from the minors.

Ward: The Americans were really hoping their marriage with Cullen could've lasted a year longer, but he never really fit in NY. Ben Lovejoy was solid in his top pair assignment, but there was never really any dialogue regarding a contract extension.

images

Dreger: Things are constantly changing in the NHL. Yanni Gourde now knows that. After signing a 6-year extension with the Lightning, he was traded at the NHL Draft to the Islanders so the Lightning could attempt to sign Brayden Point. They figured they could fit his deal in with Gourde's but after seeing how far apart they were, they elected to move on from Gourde. They then failed to sign Point, losing him to New Jersey, and Gourde is now on the move for the second time in less than a year.

Struggling with the 8th in the Metro Islanders to the tune of just 18 points, Gourde is now on the move again. This time though, he can take the subway to his new home as he is heading across city to the Americans for 2nd and 3rd round picks in the upcoming Entry Draft.

Duthie: We now have Amerks GM Brant King on the line to discuss his first Trade Deadline:

King: We're really thrilled with what we've accomplished here today. We're excited to welcome Yanni to the organization. When you have the chance to acquire a player of his caliber for pennies on the dollar, it's a no brainer. I'd like to wish Ben, Patrick, Matty and Kevan the best of luck with their new clubs. Obviously it was important to us to acquire some draft picks to start builidng our prospect pool up a little bit, but for the price of a 2nd and 3rd round pick, which only has a chance of becoming as good a player as Yanni, it was an easy decision to take the sure thing.

Duthie: Any more moves coming for youguys in the next hour or so before the official Trade Deadline?

King: You never know what can happen in that time, but nothing is in the works now trade wise. We're deep into discussions with our #1 defenseman Brenden Dillon on a contract extension, and we have ongoing chats with Chris Kunitz's agents to try and bring him back. We're very happy with our roster moving forward.

Duthie: Would you like to speak to how you feel the season is going for your club?

King: Yeah, obviously we'd love to be a bit closer to the Playoffs, but it's a process. Nothing happens overnight. Everyone here is elated with the success of some of our forwards. Ty Rattie, Colton Scissons and Brcok McGinn have been 3 very good youngsters for us. Brandon Sutter has really been a leader in the room and bounced back after a few rough years in Vancouver. That's just to name a few, but overall we're very happy with our forwards. You can't highlight the success on our team without mentioning Reims and Korpi in nets, as they've been the backbone of our club. Now if you ask them, they'd say to credit our defense, which is a good point as they've done an incredible job so far in front of the,. But, our goalies have hands down been our MVP's even if they won't admit it.

Duthie: Thanks Brant.

King: Thanks for having me James.

BREAKING NEWS: Americans claim Hanzal off waivers from Stars
March 5th, 2019
The 32-year old centerman never quite worked out in Dallas after signing his expiring 3-year contract there. He was traded to Minnesota at the 2017 NHL Trade Deadline for a package including a 1st round pick. His value has since dimished to the point where he was placed on waivers. With plenty of cap space, and a spot open for a depth forward, the Americans put in a claim on the 6'6" forward and got him off waivers.

He has just 17 points in 63 games so far this season while averaging 11:27 TOI/game.

BREAKING NEWS: Dillon, Kuntiz agree to Contract Extensions
April 9th, 2019
Following the final game of the Regular Season, GM Brant King announced the Americans had come to terms with Brenden Dillon and Chris Kunitz on contract xtensions. Both were taken off the market by GMBK heading into the Trade Deadline, and it appears that that was for good reason as they've agreed to stick around for another contract.

Dillon's contract is a 6-year extension worth a total of $21.0M ($3.5M AAV), while Kunitz's is a 1-year extension with a cap hit of $1.500M.

Both goalies numbers regressed, largely due to the firesale on defense at the Trade Deadline, but both netminders still posted impressive numbers. While James Reimer took the starting duties and performed admirably, it was Joonas Korpisalo who put up elite numbers in the backup role. Goaltending should be the least of the Americans worries next season.

Brock McGinn showed he can fulfill the promise he showed in Carolina, while Andre Burakovksy topped his career high in points by 2. That being said, the real star for the newest team in NY was Yanni Gourde post deadline. The 27-year old had 16 points in 19 games, a nearly 70-point pace. Special shoutout to Chris Kunitz who looked rejuvenated with his 6th organization.

Even if you for example a high elite/franchise centre already, and you see another high elite centre in the free agency pick him up! Assuming they both want first line, try to snag him off the market(better teams via winnin/chemistry will have an easier time with this) and try him out since there’s a chance he could mesh well with your other first liners. Pick which one you prefer to keep 20 or so games in and trade the other high value centre for a piece you do need, like a high elite defence/goalie.

Season Preview

The Americans enter the season with the same goaltending they had heading into last season. GMBK looked like a genius last year for selecting these 2 in the Draft, but the verdict is still out. Despite having a career high workload (55 games) at age 30, James Reimer managed to post respectable numbers even after a selloff at the Trade Deadline. Joonas Korpisalo showed potential to be an elite starter in the league, but time is running out for him to progress further.

images
images

Brenden Dillon returns as New York's #1D with a new partner in FA signee Andrej Sustr. They should team up to form a solid top pair, while Slater Koekkoek and Nathan Beaulieu also return fresh off signing new 3-year contracts. Jordan Oesterle, who cemented himself as a top-6 option in the latter stretch of last season, also comes back, while newly acquired Ilya Lyubushkin rounds out the group. Brett Kulak is the 7th defenseman while prospect Philippe Myers remains in the minors.

images
images

Last years leading scorer Ty Rattie leads the way up front for the Amerks. Yanni Gourde, who had 16 points in 19 games after joining the Americans last season, joins forces with Bobby Ryan and Andre Burakovsky to bring in the second wave of offense. Also returning is Expansion Draft selections Brock McGinn, Colton Sissons, Cutris Lazar, Chris Kunitz, Brandon Sutter and Marcsu Foligno. Free Agent signings Radek Faksa and Sam Gagner complete the teams top 12 forwards. Depth forwards are Peter Holland and Martin Hanzal. Seth Griffith remains in the minors.

GM Brant King joined TSN to talk about the leadership group and the upcoming season:

Duthie: Thanks for joining us Brant, I know you're a busy man so let's get right into it. What are you expecting out of your club this season?

King: I expect progress. Our organization has complete confidence in our team from the crease out.

Duthie: Is that a testament to your goaltending?

King: Well, you can't talk about the success of this team without talking about them. Reims and Krop were fantastic last season, and there's no reason to doubt they put up numbers similar to that. We feel that our defensive group is even better than last season with the addition of Lyubushkin and Sustr, so that should even help ease the pressure off of our goalies.

Duthie: The big story last year aside from the goaltending was your teams ability, or lack thereof, to score. Talk about that a little bit.

King: Our guys know what we have in the room. It's hard to score in this league, especially without elite talent. We know we don't have any elite players in our locker room, and our guys know that to. So they push eachother to step up. Last year you saw it with Ty Rattie, who came through big time for us.
Duthie: Another guy up front who was a huge contributor last year was Chris Kunitz.

King: Yeah for sure. But he brought so much more than just the goals and assists. His leadership is invaluable. Him, Matt (Cullen) and Bobby (Ryan) were a great trio to have wearing the A's last year. Obviously Matty's not back with us, so Brandon Sutter is going to get an "A" as well. It was a tough choice, since we have so many great options in our room, but were confident in the 3 we've got going forward.

Duthie: So, playoffs?

King: Not to look too far ahead but I think it's a possibility, as it is for any team. I'm just looking for continued progress from last season.

Duthie: As always, thank you for joining us

King: It's been a pleasure, let's do this again at the Trade Deadline, hopefully I'll be buying this year.

BREAKING NEWS: Reimer sent to Ottawa for package including Rutta, Nilsson
Dec. 29th, 2019
It seems as though the white flag has been waived. James Reimer had done all he could in New York, yet again posting a .915 SV% so far this season despite the offense's inability to support him. The reins have now been handed to Joonas Korpisalo, who has a .897 SV% to date, while Anders Nilsson, acquired in this deal, will back him up with a .880 SV%.

The only asset going to Ottawa is James Reimer, while defenseman Jan Rutta, goalie Anders Nilsson and a 3rd round pick come back the other way.

Anders Nilsson has played just 1 game since arriving in NY, an overtime loss. Nilsson will likely play out the season with the Americans as he is not an upgrade over any of the other 63 NHL netminders statistically,

TSN Says:
Andre Burakovsky aside, everyone in the Americans forward group has been offensively underwhelming. That being said, some good can be found in the 4th line of Faksa-Hanzal-Lazar/Holland/Foligno who seems to be the most defensively sound unit of forwards on the team. Critics are saying that GMBK may have jumped the gun on Rattie, as last years breakout star has fallen down to earth. From veterans like Bobby Ryan to youngsters like Brock McGinn, everyone in New York is struggling.

2018 special Draft's 5th overall pick Nando Eggenberger currently has a stat line of 7 goals and 23 points in 41 games, a solid output for a rookie in the AHL. The Americans AHL affiliate sits last in the league with a record of 5-36-0, largely due to lack of depth behind the teams top guns such as Eggenberger and Griffith.

2019 10th overall pick Peyton Krebs currently has 20 points in 28 WHL games, an output that sure to uptick as the season progresses.

BREAKING NEWS: Kunitz signs another 1-year extension ahead of Deadline
Feb. 12th, 2020
Just 2 1/2 weeks ahead of the Trade Deadline, veteran forward Chris Kunitz has signed a contract extension. the 40-year old has been one of the Americans most consistent forwards despite the team struggling to find it's footing. He was in multiple trade rumors as someone a Contender might consider, but he's won his Cups and seems content to stay in New York to guide the youth.

His contract does contain a L-NTC.

Trade Deadline

tradecentre-2017.jpg

The TRADECENTRE broadcast team:
Host: James Duthie
Trade Breaker Desk: Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger, Pierre LeBrun, and Gord Miller
Instant Analysis Panel: Ray Ferraro, Jeff O’Neill, Dave Poulin, Martin Biron, Pierre McGuire
Trade Bait: Craig Button
Deadline Panel: Jamie McLennan, Aaron Ward

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Duthie: Welcome back to TSN. The trade deadline has just passed, so now it's time to recap what exactly went down. Let's take you right to the Trade Breakers desk for some of the deals of today.

images
images

McKenzie: Sam Gagner and Jan Rutta were packaged together and sent to Nashville for a 2nd round pick in this years Entry Draft. Rutta lasted less than 2 months in New York, while Gagner was just signed this offseason to his 1-year deal he's on. Both players are rentals and will likely hit the FA market after the season

images

Dreger: In another move by the Americans, they sent defenseman Jordan Oesterle to the Florida Panthers for a 4th round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Oesterle, just 29, joins his 5th organization. Prior to be selected in the Expansion Draft, he had previously played for the Oilers, Coyotes and Blackhawks.

Duthie: We now have Amerks GM Brant King on the line to discuss what went down on his 2nd NHL Trade Deadline Day.

Duthie: So, just two trades today for youguys. Is that out of a desire, or lack of talks?

King: A little bit of both. Obviously Jan, Jordan and Sam were all on expiring contracts and there wasn't a mutual interest in any chats regarding deals after this season, so those were the guys we knew we had to move. There were some other chats, without naming names, but nothing we were offered was worth the players attracting attention.

Duthie: So, to be clear, say at the Draft, there could be some more moves coming?

King: I'm not going to guarantee anything, and a lot can happen in the time from now until then, but no one is off the table.

Duthie: Thanks Brant, it's always a pleasure

King: The pleasure's mine.

Poulin: The Americans now have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Ward: So far, they've hit their top picks, but missed on quite a few depth ones. I'm not convinced they should be going for the picks as opposed to the sure prospects already drafted.

McLennan: Okay, well let's talk about their top picks. Specifically this year. It's going to be a very high draft pick in a Draft where possibly the best player since McDavid is going to be drafted.

McGuire: Lafreniere is going to be a very good player, but the lottery balls are going to have to fall their way.

Biron: Their roster looks to be the worst in the league. I think their odds are only going to get better.

Duthie: It's going to be interesting for sure. That's all the time we have though, we'll see you at the NHL Entry Draft.

BREAKING NEWS: Win over Islanders snaps 11-game losing streak
March 22nd, 2020
With 9 straight post deadline losses, and 2 before the selloff, the Americans were in the midst of their worst losing streak of their history. The 11-game losing streak came to an end with a 4-2 win over the only team below them in the NHL standings, the New York Islanders.
Yanni Gourde continued his 5-game point streak with 1 goal and 1 assist in the win, as he is now in the team lead in points with 43.

BREAKING NEWS: Embarrassing loss to Sens sparks controversy over King's job as GM
April 1st, 2020
There was already chatter as to if GM Brant King's seat is getting hot as GM of the newest NHL Franchise, the Americans, and an 8-1 loss to the 29th overall Senators did nothing to help that. With New York currently sitting 3oth overall, getting routed by the team directly ahead of you in the standings is pretty pathetic.

The Amerks now have a record of 28-45-5 and have won just 3 games after the NHL Trade Deadline

TSN Says:

Without James Reimer, the Americans could not withstand their second straight Deadline of selling. Joonas Korpisalo stood tall, but his numbers suffered. Anders Nilsson posted the worst numbers of any of the 64 NHL goaltenders and will probably have to head to the AHL or Europe if he wishes to continue his pro career.

Yanni Gourde, Colton Sissons and Ty Rattie former a lethal ine post deadlin, but thats the only positive that ca be taken from this. Andre Burakovsky still posted a career high 40-points despite only getting 15 in the last 41 games.

Continued from NHL 19 - Franchise Mode Thread

NHL 19 - Franchise Mode - Vancouver Canucks - 2021/2022 Season

April 10, 2022

The Vancouver Canucks wrapped up the 2021-2022 campaign riding a 4-game winning streak and 2-game shutout streak as they clinched first place in the Western Conference by a single point over the San Jose Sharks. This will mark the Canucks first appearance in the playoffs since 2015 when they were knocked out in the first round by the Calgary Flames. The Canucks will host the Blues at Rogers Arena in Game 1.

The Los Angeles Kings, who looked unbeatable through the first half of the season, managed just 30 points over the final half of the season, much of which can be attributed to losing star goaltender Jonathan Quick for the remainder of the season. While the Kings still managed to make the playoffs, expectations are low.

The Toronto Maple Leafs won their second Presidents' Trophy in 4 years with 115 points while boasting the league's best offense and power play.

Philadelphia's Claude Giroux won the scoring race with 83 points (30g, 53a), the lowest total since the lockout-shortened 2012-2013 season. Winnipeg's Patrik Laine led all goal scorers with 47 to win his first Maurice Richard trophy. Arizona's Ville Nurminen, a 2019 2nd round pick of the Coyotes, led all rookie scorers with 67 points.

The Canucks finished with a 45-28-9 record, good for 6th in the league, with the 5th most goals for and 7th fewest goals allowed. However, special teams were a weak spot for the club, with the 29th ranked power play and 20th ranked penalty kill. Vancouver is hoping to improve in those areas ahead of the playoffs.

Elias Pettersson led the Canucks in scoring with 76 points while Brock Boeser led in the goal department with 29 goals. Emanuel Jovanovski eluded the infamous sophomore slump, improving on last season's numbers with 27 goals and 64 points.

i alternate simming and slow simming. first month i'll slow sim all games, second month just sim on calendar and so forth. barring anything unforseen such as a major injury where i would need to edit a bunch of lines or a long losing skid, i just let the sim go the whole month

why can prospects have more gwgs than goals, or goalie prospects have more shutouts than wins (goalie has 2 games played, 1 win, 2 shutouts)

Have you ever tried Franchise Hockey Manager? That might be perfect for someone like yourself.
