I actually considered giving Brent a + on that goal but not Tlusty. Brent is probably the sole reason that LaBarbera didn't just absorb that shot like the softball it was.

But this is where the MOE column comes in handy. +1 in that column for both Tlusty and Brent.

Surprisingly good: Tuomo Ruutu
For all the crap he gets, Ruutu is one of the only players who consistently creates offense. He does it by forechecking hard and going to the spots where not a lot of our players thrive. Jokinen is probably the only other guy who creates offense as consistently, so it should be no surprise that their line is our only consistent scoring threat.

Surprisingly bad: Jay Harrison
Pairing him with Faulk is a friggin' disaster. He makes way too many mistakes to be entrusted with a rookie as his partner. I like that he "thinks" the game, but he gets caught looking far too often. It would appear he has little instinct to simply make a tough defensive play at game speed.

Why?

Two boneheaded plays that resulted in the other teams two goals. No way does a guy get a free pass for playing poor defense and NOT chipping in on the scoring at all. Subjective or not, he was one of only two players to go -2 that night, deservedly so.
