So on HFOil we complain that the oilers have too many former players in the organization, and that the esks have too few?
Does that not make sense to anyone else?
I think in connection with the Eskimos the argument runs more along the lines of not having much of a connection with anybody that is ongoing and the team and org losing players all the time. next season there might be 5 players, or less, that have been here even for a handful of years. The thing of note is that basically a lot of talent seems to gravitate to Calgary, and stay there for longer duration.
The bigger concern is with losing Sherritt we're losing yet another starring player. Him retiring is one thing, going to the stamps just seems to somehow add to the sting. Although as fans we're used to being stung..
In some way the real feel I get from present management is they don't really care who is on the roster or any connection fans might have with the players. That was made indelible by Sunderland the last couple years.
In the end what it results in is fans essentially not knowing any of the players, in which case its harder to even care about the club. Theres a certain point (Esks have crossed it) at which point there is no more connection to the players.
