Fair enough. Just says something that the best run organization in the league for the last two decades was able to make room for him very quickly is all.
At the very least I hope the people in charge wanted him here, but just didn't have room. Looks quite bad if you didn't want a heart and soul guy like him, but the team as you say is the best ran scooped him so quickly.

So on HFOil we complain that the oilers have too many former players in the organization, and that the esks have too few?

Does that not make sense to anyone else?

I think in connection with the Eskimos the argument runs more along the lines of not having much of a connection with anybody that is ongoing and the team and org losing players all the time. next season there might be 5 players, or less, that have been here even for a handful of years. The thing of note is that basically a lot of talent seems to gravitate to Calgary, and stay there for longer duration.

The bigger concern is with losing Sherritt we're losing yet another starring player. Him retiring is one thing, going to the stamps just seems to somehow add to the sting. Although as fans we're used to being stung..

In some way the real feel I get from present management is they don't really care who is on the roster or any connection fans might have with the players. That was made indelible by Sunderland the last couple years.

In the end what it results in is fans essentially not knowing any of the players, in which case its harder to even care about the club. Theres a certain point (Esks have crossed it) at which point there is no more connection to the players.

Sherritt will make all of his inexperienced screwups and mistakes with the Stamps and then come in as a seasoned and competent head coach and take over our reins. All part of the grand plan. f*** over the Stamps and then come in and save us.

Who cares about who's on the team, as long as the team wins.

When last seen the Esks weren't winning, and they've lost several more key players this offseason. So we're not talking about a team that wins a hell of a lot generally in the first place. Being .500 in the abysmal CFL where 2 teams a year are all but on life support is not much accomplishment.

As for who is on the team fans tend to have connections with players. They tend to like some continuity and identification with players. Not each years lineup to be an annual reintroduction.

I have no issue give guys a shot. It's just when they fail and you continue to keep them or you give them big jobs for no reason.

A linebackers coach or defensive specialist coach isn't exactly the same as giving guys the GM title with no experience.

Boateng back with the EE for 2 more seasons and that is very good news.

Finding a Canadian DE with his ability is next to impossible. Great signing, keep them coming.

Unfortunately, the days of a player playing many years with one team are pretty much all but over, except for a few of the Canadian slugs on special teams. More and more of the quality guys will move around or take their shot (s) at the NFL. And with the new league coming on board, there will be even more movement. That Stamps have been largely immune to this phenomena due to having such a fantastic organization and the outstanding treatment of their players, but we can now see even that crumbling as many of them have headed south.

For sure. That's a real struggle for the CFL to figure out. It resembles now what FC Edmonton deal with in Soccer. Lots of influx and coming and going of players and as fans you can't really approach it with player attachment in mind. But I kind of expect that in a startup type league. Not sure if I'm still equipped to like that with the CFL. Its so much a farm league now and with the advent of other leagues. I do think some Mexican players will be an interesting influx and I can see that developing into a pipeline. I tend to think the CFL will be more open to benefitting from that more recent innovation than the NFL might be initially. The CFL is probably right in thinking they have to look everywhere they can to find some talent. Mexican players as well might be those that are more interested in staying for awhile in a better situation and pay than they would get at home.

Seems like everything the CFL is doing is going for a demographic they don't have. I don't hate the logo and design but wouldn't buy it either and would probably detest if this type of thing was unleashed on the Eskimos logo and designs.

Heres an idea for Montreal. Put a reasonable team on the field once in awhile. Haven't had one there since Calvillo.

I’m a little surprised we haven’t heard much about the possible name change for a while or maybe that’s just a November thing.

Maybe it's just me but I got the feeling yesterday that the EE offence probably wouldn't have scored many points against either the Patriot or Rams defence. They seem to have better defensive backs than we do.

Pfft they could never stop our long-ball on every play! :sarcasm:
