I just can't see how you can go wrong on this deal ? a 3rd round pick, for a guy that could be playing in the Top 4. It's a great deal for the Jets, and no risk at all IMO.

Yep.

Here are the Jets drafted third rounders:
2011 Brennan Serville - 0 NHL games
2012 Scott Komaschuk - 8 NHL games (2015)
2013 Jimmy Lodge - 0 NHL games
2013 JC Lipon - 9 NHL games (2015)
2014 Jack Glover - 0 NHL games
2015 Erik Foley - 0 NHL games
2016 Luke Green - 0 NHL games
2017 Jonathan Kovacevic - 0 NHL games

The only third rounders we've drafted that even saw the NHL were injury callups for a few games in 2015. The posters here lamenting getting a top4 guy for a third rounder are crazy lol

Missing Lowry in there but your point still stands. Not a great chance at getting a plus NHL player there.

Well just to play devils advocate, you did leave off Nathan Smith who looks like a potential stud right now. Plus all the other NHL talent we currently have that were taken late 2nd or after 3rd round.

I would absolutely LOVE this deal if I thought we were making the playoffs, which look increasingly less likely with NSH charging right now.

Somewhere nice
As per Chevy good in the room.

Trade is Ok,

But my question is why they always say this year after acquiring someone "he is good in the room"?

What the heck is wrong in the room they need to keep picking up someone who is good in the room .
I know its not a bad thing, but its what maurice or chevy always say this year. Weird.

Gope he can help.

I really hope it's Demelo and Josh together to start. I am finding I don't care for the Pionk - Morrissey duo at all.

Why would he do that?

Well my understanding DeMelo is very steady and defensively responsible, and pairs well with an offensively minded partner. He was paired with Chabot and apparently complimented him pretty well. Pionk has proven to have nice offensive side (notwithstanding the PP exposure) and the primary guy on the team to contribute this way, so it is reasonable that he and DeMelo may be fitting partners.

How the Winnipeg Jets are as a team and organization is in a nutshell. AND I LOVE IT.

This post is getting underappreciated here.

Looks like a good low risk move to try and improve the D enough to get into the playoffs.

Oh yeah. Play him with Morrissey and move Poolman down the line up. I don't think they'll start there, though.

Morrissey - Poolman
Kulikov - DeMelo
Beaulieu - Niku

I like the look of that in theory. Then Sbisa comes back and the bottom pair resumes getting caved again.
Pionk?

Wonder if Pionk moves to LD and DeMelo is his RD partner. Have Kuli & Beaulieu as third pair?

Morrissey DeMelo
Kulikov Pionk

... is how I see the top 4. Pair the two best shutdown types on the first unit to do the heavy lifting then a second unit that has decent balance to it.
