Dostal is promising for sure. He gave his team an opportunity to win games in this series but they just didn't have good enough scoring talent or depth to challenge Kärpät. Another year in FEL could be good, maybe change the team as I don't think Ilves will be much better next season.

Drummondville finishes off Gatineau, winning the game 6-1 and winning the series 4-1. They outshot Gatineau 48-12, which illustrates the severe difference between the two teams. Comtois had a goal, +1, and 6 SOG.

Halifax loses 4-2, now facing elimination trailing the series 3-2. Morand scoreless, even rating, 1 SOG.

What an unbelievable disaster it would be if Halifax got knocked out in the first round. A loaded Memorial Cup team disarmed by a cinderella squad...

Tri-City got obliterated out of the playoffs last night, losing 9-1 to Everett. Olson scored the only goal of the game and had 4 SOG. Olson is now eligible to go pro and join the Gulls.

Another thing to watch is Charlottetown plays game 6 today at 3pm. If they lose, Drew will be eligible to go pro and join the Gulls as well.

EDIT: Olson's final playoff stats: 5GP 1G 2A, -1 Rating, 22 SOG

Well, they are missing one of their top guys. You could say that Benny-O was the GROULX that keeps Halifax together.

I'll leave now.

Not our prospect but after looking up the stats from that Halifax series, Lavoie put up 7 goals and 13 points in that series (3 goals and 7 points more than any other Halifax player), that's mental. I could see him being a big riser in the upcoming draft if he keeps that up.

Somewhat related -- Today, Ilves announced a 1-year deal with experienced netminder Ville Kolppanen. IMO this signing strongly indicates that Dostal is not returning next year.

He struggled this year but always shows up when the games mean the most. He'll be a top 15 pick imo.
