So he just needs his CHL season to end then he can play in SD?

Anybody who follows that know what kind of possible timing would be involved or where the Gulls would have to be in the playoffs before it might happen?

Thanks.
Correct, that is why hunter Drew and kyle Olson are with the gulls currently.

The gulls would have to make the second round for them to possibly get there with their junior teams winning in the playoffs so far.

Halifax wins 4-2 to take a 3-0 series lead. Morand had a goal, 2 assists, +2, and 3 SOG.
Drummondville wins 4-2 to go up 3-1 in the series. Comtois had an assist, +1, and 0 SOG.
My mistake, that was actually game 4 for Halifax, meaning they have swept the series and are heading to the semifinals.

Sickening corruption and nepotism are apparent in the OHL once again, as for the 4th time in recent years, a team is being purchased for the purpose of ensuring a spot for the new owner's offspring.

The sale hasn't even been finalized, yet the team burned a pair of early picks (5th round in the U16 priority selection and 5th overall in the U18) on the sons of the new owner. Neither would have been picked otherwise.

Now we're going to have two undersized, under skilled Dmen gifted precious spots in what is supposed to be our top development league.

I guess nothing was learned from the recent situation in Sudbury. Owner has his son drafted 3rd round (would have been able to take him in the 15th), gifts him a spot as a 16 year old when he should have been back playing Midget. 95 games, 0 goals and major concussion issues later, and the kid is no longer even playing the game. After that, the league should have stepped in with sanctions to ensure this didn't happen again.

Poor kids. Knowing how the internet/social media is these days, they're in for a tough time. Hopefully they manage to stay healthy and get out of the situation as unscathed as possible.

Which team was just bought?

All of the QMJHL series finished within 5 games. Here are the 3rd round matchups:

Halifax (Morand and maybe Groulx) v. Drummondville (Comtois)
Rouyn-Noranda v. Rimouski

Hey Ducks fans, talk to me about these players who made their NHL debut this season. What kind of players are they, what is their immediate outlook and their longterm outlook. Are they NHL players, star potential, grinders, destined for Europe? let me know. Thanks!

Maxime Comtois
Kiefer Sherwood
Josh Mahura
Kevin Boyle

Comtois - winger - power forward in making. Quite fast and a good shot imho. Second to first liner down the road, hard to judge for me.
Sherwood - winger - energy guy for your 3rd or 4th line. Will have a hard time finding a spot next year.
Mahura, LHD, offensive guy who needs another year in the A.
Boyle can be a backup at the NHL. Otherwise a very good AHL goalie.

Des Moines wins games 1 and 2 of their best-of-3 first round series against Fargo. Perbix had an assist, -1, and 1 SOG in the 2 games. Durny saved 22 of 25 in the first game, then 28 of 30 in the second game.

Guelph Storm reverse swept the London ****ing Knights to advance into round 3 of the OHL playoffs.

Slightly OT, since no Ducks prospects were playing, but just... wow...

The Comtois-Morand series begins today at 4:30PST. Winner of the best of 7 series goes to the QMJHL finals. Doesn't sound like Groulx has recovered yet.

EDIT: Someone on the Halifax thread says Groulx is skating with the team, so maybe he will be playing again soon.

Hypothetically, if the Gulls clinch tomorrow or Thursday and Halifax eliminate Drummondville Friday, it's not inconceivable that Comtois could be available for San Diego at the beginning of Round 2, correct?
