Sickening corruption and nepotism are apparent in the OHL once again, as for the 4th time in recent years, a team is being purchased for the purpose of ensuring a spot for the new owner's offspring.
The sale hasn't even been finalized, yet the team burned a pair of early picks (5th round in the U16 priority selection and 5th overall in the U18) on the sons of the new owner. Neither would have been picked otherwise.
Now we're going to have two undersized, under skilled Dmen gifted precious spots in what is supposed to be our top development league.
I guess nothing was learned from the recent situation in Sudbury. Owner has his son drafted 3rd round (would have been able to take him in the 15th), gifts him a spot as a 16 year old when he should have been back playing Midget. 95 games, 0 goals and major concussion issues later, and the kid is no longer even playing the game. After that, the league should have stepped in with sanctions to ensure this didn't happen again.
