Dreger: Ducks interested in Ristolainen?

Why are the Sabres dealing Ristolainen again? I thought they were looking forward to a defense core with Dahlin and Risto.

“But that’s another deal where Botterill has got to feel real comfortable that he’s on the winning side, otherwise he doesn’t make it.”

So...>99% chance we're not, <1% chance one of the other 30 GMs does something absolutely moronic and Buffalo has no choice but to laugh its way to the bank.

It would be hilarious if Anaheim traded for a Buffalo D after all the years Buffalo has spent (at least on this board) chasing Anaheim D

Oh I agree his job hasn’t been easy, but he performs like a non NHL level guy in his role. I do think he would be fine as a sheltered 4 or 5 though just he is hilariously miscast. He’s not as bad as the numbers suggest but still he’s not in the same stratosphere as Lindholm.

Risto certainly isn’t an elite number one that some people were touting him as a few years ago, but labeling him as a “sheltered 4 or 5” is a flat out bad take.

hes a 4 who is being miscast in buffalo, he would be at his best as a 4 or 5 on a good team

That's not what he asked.

Linholm > Dahlin

Please confirm this is your opinion.

I never said anything about Lindholm being better than the #1 pick, the original post he quoted was
"I prob keep Lindholm even if the 1st overall was on the table"

Didn't say Lindholm was better than the 1st overall... just stated moving Lindholm for the #1 pick doesn't really do much for the team/org... dahlins great and should be a pretty good player in the NHL but hes still got to prove it. Lindholm is already a top notch shutdown dmen. Some people get way too invested in the idea of what a player can become... but forget its not a given. If im Anaheim im perfectly happy with Lindholm and have no interest in moving him... and yes that includes for dahlin. Doesn't mean in think Lindholm is >, just doesn't seem like a good move from Anaheim perspective... maybe if there was a really good center in the draft or something that would change my mind.

Dahlin likely will be damn good. But is it worth giving up an established top young D signed long term, to hope Dahlin will be better? Nah, unless we're talking about a generational prospect, I'd rather just keep what we have.

Dahlin is likely generational. Every GM would trade Lindholm for Dahlin.

Lol... still saying this I see. Continue to plug your ears and toot that horn I guess. Fact is we do not know what he is as we have only seen him used in a Drew Doughty-esque number one role. He could very well be a fantastic #3 on a good team, we don't know (apparently you do though, because "metrics")

Disagree on both points. Dahlin is an excellent prospect but I wouldn't put him in generational territory. Also there are teams attempting to win right now. It's one thing to suggest that you think Dahlin will be better in the long run, but a team in it's current window should prefer the established young top 15 guy.

Classic case of HF overrating prospectus vs established young stars. It's asking an awful lot of Dahlin if you're expecting a top 20 Dman right away.

Let's just call it what it is.

Fact: every NHL GM would trade Lindholm for Dahlin, including Bob Murray

Your opinion: you would not trade Lindholm for Dahlin
Idk if that's a fact... have you asked every GM?... pretty sure there are a few teams that would rather have Lindholm available now than wait and see what happens with dahlin

I never claimed my opinion as a fact, because its not a fact but neither is your ridiculous post.

I mean hell the post I quoted said "likely" which means hes not even convinced.

I'd make that trade too, but you can't just put "Fact:" in front of something to make it a fact. Or hell, maybe you can? The internet has ruined everything.
