I think the announcer during tonight's game said something like "18 goals for Matthews' in his last 19 october games".

If only auston could score like this all season and not just october.

Healthy I'd say matthews will score more. But, I'd say theres a ~35% chance he misses a handful of games so it's close.

What a loser, he can only go GPG for a month.

Matthews.

Draisaitl should keep it close because of his inability to carry a line or produce without McDavid, resulting in him being force fed 25 mins a night with McDavid to produce.

Draisaitl centring his own line lasted what, half a game? He’s a great complimentary winger.
You do realise that in the one game they played apart this year Draisiatl was by far the Oilers best player. He had three points to McDavid's 1. But why worry about what actually happens on the ice when a good narrative can serve your purposes better?

Here by the way are Matthews points this year

It must be tough having to carry those plugs all over the ice.

Here are Leon's points. You will see that its not just McDavid who carries Draisaitl. But also Zack Kassian.

Again, some people can't be bothered to read.

Matthews 7G in 7GP
Draisaitl 4G in 6GP

Sure, but that's the point. If you have two 100 point players when playing together but they are 70 point players when playing apart then what you have is two 70 point players who play well together (that is just a hypothetical - I am not saying that McDavid is a 70 point player - Drai's production was much more dependant on McDavid than McDavid's was on Drai). And yes, the Oilers wingers did not look great, but they would have looked better playing with centers like McDavid and Drai. If you are supposedly really good you should be elevating mediocre linemates, instead of being elevated by even better linemates.

So you’re saying a players value is only what he produces playing with absolute garbage players?

Matthews would probably score 70 goals playing with McDavid for 82 games. Maybe we will get to see it later on in their careers :naughty:

True. McDavid will still be under contract when Matthews hits free agency. Would be a neat thing to see Matthews play wing in edm

Nobody would/should blame mcdavid one bit if he leaves Edmonton. It’s a joke what he’s had to put up with.

You mean 2 years of fail with Chiarelli. Nothing more. It will be a joke ...what's coming to Toronto in 5 years...or should I say leaving. 50 plus years of no cups , constant playoff first round fodder, better win than cup within the next few years.

The complimentary winger who scored 50 goals and 105 points.

Yet John Tavares, a hometown kid signed here last July. lol

Back to the topic of the thread though, I obviously prefer Matthews. Drai is a fantastic player (looking back, he should have gone first overall) but I don't think he is the franchise changing player like Matthews is and has been.

Being soft in the playoffs isn't the definition of a franchise changing player.

The usual few laugh fans will conveniently skip past these facts as they continue to paw at anything in desperation. If the Oilers could put together a whole team at some point, it would be a sight to see. For now I'm just happy we have 2 players better than Toronto's best offering.

What a pathetically low bar to set lol. Maybe switch to following a better team like the Flames?

[mod] I guess that happens when your supposedly "generational" player turns out to be less than top 20 year after year.
