Sitting at a desk.
At this point, I don't blame people for picking Drai. I still prefer Matthews but the stats show they are at least nearly even, and probably show Drai on top.

It's possible Edmonton has two guys who can be top 5 Cs in the world.

Matthews.

Draisaitl should keep it close because of his inability to carry a line or produce without McDavid, resulting in him being force fed 25 mins a night with McDavid to produce.

Draisaitl centring his own line lasted what, half a game? He’s a great complimentary winger.
[mod] we all know you're already asleep by the time the Oilers start playing.
Draisaitl > Matthews AINEC.

If that guy lives in Toronto, I highly doubt he’s sleeping at 9:00-9:30 pm when oilers games start in the eastern time zone. That’s actually prime hockey watching hour.

Conversely, it’s actually likely that more eastern games are missed by by fans out west because when the eastern games start, the western conference fans are still not even home from work. Then you do the whole afternoon routine of picking up the kids from school, going grocery shopping, mowing the lawn or other chores.

Anyone that continues to dish out Draisaitl being a complimentary winger under McDavid doesn't watch Oiler games at all. But go figure, that poster said something as comical about the Oilers like he often does. Yawn.

You do realise that in the one game they played apart this year Draisiatl was by far the Oilers best player. He had three points to McDavid's 1. But why worry about what actually happens on the ice when a good narrative can serve your purposes better?

Here by the way are Matthews points this year

It must be tough having to carry those plugs all over the ice.

Here are Leon's points. You will see that its not just McDavid who carries Draisaitl. But also Zack Kassian.

Finally someone laid out the TRUTH in how ridiculously dumb the argument that Drai gets help so he's not that good versus Matthews. As if Matthews doesn't get help! Oilers don't even have anything CLOSE to an offensive D-man feeding McDavid or Drai, look how many points Reilly gets in on!

So imma say it, Matthews would be nothing without Reilly.

It's the only thing the naysayers have now. Most great players play with good players. Never hear this for Bergeron or Mackinnon. Draisaitl has been better than Matthews this year and he was last year also. The way he is playing, it would not surprise me if he goes back to back 50 goals in consecutive years. Great player.

I wish people would just vote and stop with all of the excuses to try to pump up Matthews and chop down Draisaitl.
Drai plays a lot of minutes because the Oilers don’t have the same depth. Rather than being a negative I see that as a positive as very few players can play those minutes and still perform at a high level.
And yes he gets to play with McDavid sometimes. But let’s not act like Matthews plays with chopped liver. On the PP he plays with Rielly, Marner and Tavares.
This could go either way but based on past performance I’d go with Drai.

Not trying to get into it but that’s silly...

McD was in on 7 of Drai’s 12 points and probably on the ice for a couple more.

The point isn’t that McDavid doesn’t get into DRAis points. The point is that all good players have there points helped by other good players on their team. Edmonton doesn’t even have a number 1 offensive defenseman or anything close to a Dman that resembles one. You don’t think Matthews benefits from Reilly’s breakouts? It’s obvious he does and it’s obvious Matthews would not be scoring like he is without the help that he gets.

no that's not more likely at all. 9-9:30 is not prime hockey watching time haha. Living out West is definitely more beneficial for watching hockey games imo.

Drai can actually produce over 73 points a season and costs nearly 3m less? He's got way better value.

In terms of goals? One is a 50 goal scorer, the other hasn't matched his rookie season.

That's cute, what does that have anything to do with the OP?

Yes actually it does considering I mentioned their difference in goals in their most recent season and this topic is about goals.

Do you need to do a 3rd take or does this suffice?

Is the season over? Don't think so unless you're a Matthew's fans who hopes the season is over by 15 games before his pace considerably drops off per usual.

Facts are 50 > 37.
