Gabriel should have let a vet be the first to congratulate Cory
Nyah it was cool how excited the kids were. Rooney was out there mixing in too.

The point where the Wild really let us back into the game was when they were playing us soft around the 6 or 7 minute mark of the 3d period. When they were up by two goals they stooped pressuring us on our breakouts and let us carefully move the puck through our end and into theirs with multiple passes. Sitting back is such a bad way to defend. The proverbial “prevent defense that prevents you from winning.”

We are so poor against pressure, they did us a huge favor.

Corey actually stood on his head later in the 3d and OT. It wasn’t a lucky win at all for him. This was the best he’s looked since so long I can hardly remember.

So the 3 stars was Nico, MarJo, and BRAD F'N HUNT???

Why???

Bratt had 2 assists and played outstanding yet AN OPPONENT gets the 3rd Star on a DEVILS broadcast?

Holy under-appreciation, Batman.

Not sure how long this will last, but this is the first time since last playoffs or possibly even since before Cory came back from injury the first time in March of 2018, that I've felt comfortable with Cory than Keith.

Keith is in a serious death spiral at this point. I think we cooked him, maybe from playing him so much. I think there's a relatively high chance that Cory outplays him for the remainder of the year. This might have been the worst game he's played this year, as far as the quality of the goals he allowed.

This game was reminiscent of the game where Cory got yanked and Keith came in for the comeback win against Vegas. And not so much because of the beginning to end result, but because Keith looked as Cory that night. Now I don't think any of the goals he allowed were quite as bad as the one that got Cory yanked for the game, but he looked really bad out there.

@Bleedred , I'm serious.

Go play the lottery.

You predicted a Devils comeback 5-4 victory with Cory getting the Relief win.:laugh::laugh:
I don't even remember when I predicted it, but I didn't really think it would happen until we tied it. Perhaps I did say it before that?

Once we tied it, the stage was set for one of two results. Either we were gonna win in overtime (or less likely the shootout) or we had just tied that game only to lose in the shootout (and definitely not the OT period), which would have been annoying.

This is gonna be a game to look back on that really killed the Wild if they miss by a point or on a tiebreaker or something. A blown 3 goal lead, Dubnyk imploding like it's 2013 in Edmonton and being the first team to lose to Cory Schneider in a regular season game in over a year.

And this is a game where goaltending really loses you the game. It almost lost us the game (definitely if we lost by one or two goals) and it lost the Wild the game.

Yes you did :

So I realize I'm setting up the jinx right now and I don't think we're coming back, but I'll say it anyway.

If we come back and win this 5-4, Cory does get the win? I believe?

(It wasn't exactly a Prediction, but you were the first to mention the possibility)

Haha I forgot about that. I think it was in the 2nd period? Late in the 2nd period. I did say I didn't think we were coming back though, but once we cut it to 4-3 it seemed like we might.

It's very fitting now that Kinkaid and Dubnyk are now first and third in my stoppable goal count after this game. Dubnyk is tied for third with Hellebuyck. This doesn't necessarily mean they have the highest percentage, as Mike Smith and Cam Talbot (As well as guys that haven't played as many games) are all worse than them, but because they don't play as many games/allow as many goals/face as many shots, they have allowed fewer overall.

For what it's worth, There's a couple others with a higher percentage than Kinkaid, like Smith, Talbot, Koskinen, Luongo and I think a few others. I think even Hellebuyck has a higher percentage. So I don't think Kinkaid has been the worst goalie in the league by my count, but he's definitely been quite a bit below average. Maybe the expected save percentage holds water to a degree, but there's no way in hell the expected save percentage can be the .892% on this team that Kinkaid has.

To be fair to him, he looks more in line with goalies around the league that have a .900% or .898%-.902% save percentage to me, then an .892% goalie. There's been a few guys with higher save percentages that look worse. Like Luongo, Koskinen, Rittich hasn't looked much better. Rask doesn't look nearly as good as his .920% save percentage either. Maybe even James Reimer and Jake Allen as well.

I’m not high on Schneids doing much of anything anymore. Zero confidence. Reuben just looks shell shocked now and has been manufacturing goals like a rubber factory during this stretch. So go with Schneids for at least the next week. No matter what happens with him. KK is a runaway train since the break. It’s more important to evaluate Schneids now than the player that definitely won’t play for the NJD after April 6.
