At this point I think the Devs should trade Hall & try to pick up Doughty or the best available D man. I fear Hall doesn’t have many years left health wise, and this team desperately needs a core defenseman. I Love Hall but he is soo injury prone.

Why should Hall resign with the Devils?

Still laughing at Dubnyk giving that goal up to Lovejoy. He moved around yesterday with the agility of Andre the Giant circa 1992.

Watched the Minnesota presser after the game last night and coach threw Dubnyk under the bus hard. Said they'd be having a meeting with goalie coaches and GM today to discuss what needs to be done.

That's either CYA mode or a horrible way to keep the room from a coach.

They're such a mess.

The fact that Boudreau's gone full Messier guaranteeing the playoffs, while their GM conceded he'll look at deals that could cost the Wild a playoff spot, tells you all you need to know about the disconnect within that organization.

All that young talent, though, right Zach? Championship potential? Lol

So happy for Cory, finally got that 8 million pound gorilla off his back. He really deserved that win.

Nico in OT is becoming clutch. Love it.

He has been on record multiple times saying that he loves the area and loves being under the radar unlike in Edmonton. He loves playing with Nico, and even loves Hynes (yeah I know). Plenty of reasons why he would sign an extension.

dubnyk is *not* a good goalie, or he’s at least supremely overrated. i don’t know when/where this long con started.
Hes definitely a good goalie in this league, not great though. But my god what a trash performance by him last night.

It's been a season of absolute ****, Cory finally wins a damn game and it's in OT after coming into the game and not giving up any goals. I had no issues with Cangy's call at all.

i didn’t have a problem with his enthusiasm. it’s just that he tries to have these meaningful calls, he tries so hard to be doc. but it comes off as some nasally nerd screaming something he wrote down ‘just in case’ during a commercial break.

AND HOW DO YOU SPELL RELIEF??! C. O. R. Y.

“Nasally nerd” is exactly what it is... for me, at least. And he definitely tries his hardest to be Doc 2.0, which only makes everything more awkward.

Cangy just comes off as some bookish geek, and when he gets all riled up for calls like Nico’s winner last night, all I can think of is “40-year-old virgin.”

When a big play would happen, Doc would sort of “marvel” at it... with a ton of enthusiasm, of course. Cangy just freaks out and screams like he’s never seen an exciting hockey play before.

The process broke...

Also, that was some of the worst goaltending I've seen from two goalies in a long time. Was there one good goal scored in this game @Bleedred ?
There were two goals I didn’t nail the goalie on as stoppable in this game. One from each goalie (not including Cory who didn’t allow a goal). The Butcher goal on Dubnyk and that goal they scored on Kinkaid where a Wild player’s ass was glued to Keith’s face and Gabriel might have deflected it.

Everything else ranged from stoppable to disgustingly awful. The first goal on Johansson and last goal on Kinkaid were both really bad. Each goalie had a giveaway that led to a goal and the Lovejoy goal that tied the game was really bad on Dubnyk. The Palmieri goal was bad. Went right through his arm. If he was screened on that it was his own fault that he couldn’t see it. The first goal on Kinkaid was a stoppable one.

It WAS kind of over-the-top and quasi-rehearsed lol, but he's allowed. Like others have said this is probably the last moment of pure unadulterated joy anyone's going to get out of the season barring maybe a late season Ty Smith debut or something like that.

The call was embarrassing/lame. I get being excited... but gosh. We’re like 30th in the league and won a game in mid February that means nothing, even though it was a nice little comeback.

I think he was just happy for Cory more than anything which I understand. Especially if you know the guy personally and cover him every day for work.

At first I thought the "how do you spell relief" line was just flat out silly call-back to a rolaids commercial from the 80s but then today I got what the joke was - because Cory came in "in relief" of Kinkaid... either I'm getting slower or that joke was too forced and by all accounts one he's been holding in his pocket for far too long. I'm not sure which of us is sadder in this instance.

Huh? Those are the positive things he says and those will have a factor in his decision. So if he signs it will obviously be BECAUSE of those reasons. Those are the positives the man himself sees.

It was so awkward.

I managed to cringe harder than I did on his “took surprise... took Dubnyk by surprise...” botch job on the Johansson goal.

I'd bet he had that "how do you spell relief, C-O-R-Y" line prepared for months.

EDIT: Agreed with Richer's Ghost. I didn't get that far in the thread before posting. :help:
