Outside of our hot start this season has been nothing but ineptitude and futility. In my eyes keeping Hynes (or any of the coaching staff for that matter) is indefensible at this point, but I know they'll all be back next year, with Cammalleri & Lovejoy still logging significant minutes.
I hope to god i'm wrong, but I get the impression I won't be.
That'll shut the Isles fans up
People don't want me to admit that the biggest reason for down goaltending this year has more to do with the team in front then the goalies.
there is no way hynes can be head coach next season.
what a horrible year this has been.

Scotty Bowman isn't getting much more out of this team
I really don't get why people can't just admit our roster is complete trash minus a few guys. Our bottom
6 is AHL caliber at best and our blue line is arguably the worst in the NHL. Is Hynes the answer? Probably not, but this team's problems are much more due to lack of talent than coaching.
Yeah, you can't expect Hynes to make chicken salad out of chicken **** but like others have said, how the hell do you sell this product next season? I mean the results have been so bad. So so bad. Like really ****ing bad. At the very least, a new staff gives the illusion that the team is trying to change things even if it doesn't make much actual difference.
Personally, I think we're screwed for at least another season or two so the coaching is largely irrelevant to me right now. That said, I won't shed any tears for Hynes if he's let go.

This is how I feel also, although a bit more anti-Hynes than you are.
I'll give him one more year, but he hasn't instilled any confidence in me whatsoever.
It's very hard to try to understand what the hell he's trying to do here.
If we don't improve next year on his first season here, it will be a crime to bring him back for the fourth season. Then Shero also deserves some heat. And if we don't move up a few spots in scoring, Shero absolutely deserves some of the heat too.

But Hynes can try to teach fundamentals:
Sticks on the ice in the D zone.
Understanding defensive lane assignments during odd man rushes.
How to block a shot but not screen the goalie.
Make the safe play if you're the last guy back.
If you're struggling to get shots on goal, just throw the puck at the goalie, even at bad angles.
I don't see Hynes teaching any of this.
Agreed completely. Hynes being here next season won't ruin it for me but obviously I won't expect anything from the team. If nothing changes next year(which it probably won't) then he'll be fired. What needs to happen is Shero addressing the blue line either through trade or FA. If we don't upgrade the D then were absolutely screwed again, even if Schneider bounces back.
Face facts boys, the roster is what's really wrong here, the coaching isn't holding this team back. Besides finishing 29th is better than finishing 24th.

Absolutely agree defense in terms of free agency should be priority 1 ... the Devils need to go hard after shattemkitk I do think another year older w Santini. Merrill. Severson. Will help. The risky thing going into to next year is all 3 of them have the potential to be solid 3/4. But they could easily turn into bottom pair at best guys so we have to lock a good fa. A top 5 pick and 2 solid signings this summer
