Barzal and Beauvillier were spectacular in the pre-season so they pushed him out of a roster spot.

It's a risk I'm not sure they should be taking. They're trying to win now. I'm sure there's another player they could have waived to make room on the roster for those two.

Regular season is a different animal than preseason. If they can't keep up that's a lot of scoring to turn down, especially considering they already lost Okposo and Nielsen.

I'm not disagreeing, but that is what happened.

When the adrenaline/excitement of playing in the NHL and the lack of NHL conditioning comes into play the Isles still have Boulton to fill in so they should be fine.

Are the Isles really in win now mode? I mean they seem to be a bit further away then Parenteau from a cup run.

What the ****, they kept Boulton on the NHL roster? I guess I can believe that, since they keep on signing him and bringing him back. I thought he was more or less a Bridgeport guy to start the season.

Good god.

A good trivia question that almost no one would get. ''Jaromir Jagr is the oldest active player in the NHL at age 44. Who is the second oldest active player in the NHL?''

I bet most people would guess Doan or maybe Chara or Iginla. It would be Patrik Elias if he were under an NHL contract right now. It's actually Eric Boulton though.:help:

I mean, Tavares just turned 26 like 2 weeks ago lol

Tavares has played 500 games in the NHL. Let me know how guys like Tavares, drafted high and who played in the NHL right away, do after game 500. It's still pretty darn good - Tavares probably has at least 4 more seasons as a 1st line center - but I'd bet Tavares has already had his best season, and he's going to get considerably more expensive after next season.

I remember Parenteau and Hudler being the top forward free agents behind Zach, that year that he was a UFA. I wanted us to forget Zach and sign one of them, since it was obvious they weren't coming back anyway. I remember a few on here (Saugus particularly) telling me that both these guys were way overpaid with the contracts they got. I didn't think either of them were, as both received $16 million for 4 years. That was $4 million per.

Parenteau did get bought out the last year of his deal, but he was definitely worth at least $4 million per for the first 2 years of that deal. 43 points in 48 games in the lockout season, and 33 points in 55 games in the 13-14 season. Still was on pace for almost 50 points that year over 82 games. The only kind of bad year he's had recently was 22 points in 56 games in 14-15. And to think that David Clarkson got 8 years @ $5+ million only a year after this.

Some people acted like he was frickin so much a product of Tavares, that he was basically a 4th liner or borderline 3rd liner without him. He had one 67 point season with Tavares. He wasn't as good as he was that year, but he was better than most people gave him credit for.

Luckily for him he hasn't had too many long playoff runs which can really ware on a player. :)

Whatever happens, i'll really miss him.

My avy says it all : PATTY'S BETTER.

I would miss him but the avy will remain for all-time because.....reasons.

Devils website has Parenteau wearing #17.

He wore #15 for the Leafs last year, so it's not like they just defaulted to his most recent one.

sorry kovy :sarcasm:

Thats fine that he's wearing 17. He'll be off the roster next season when Kovalchuk comes back :)

You two are shameless.

About Patty, regardless of what happens, I'm happy that he was in the lineup for the final game last season and that I got to be there. Fans definitely made their love and appreciation for him clear. Lots of cheers and clapping.

Yeah they still have Brylin and Terreri in coaching roles and Dano as part of the broadcast team.

And re: Patty I'm at peace with whatever happens. The last game was a good sendoff if that's what happens. He's not going anywhere else, there's no messy divorce. If he wants to come back well it's not like he's unretiring Brett Favre-style, and there'll be more appreciation for however long he's around.

He's on IR, not on the 23 roster.
