How did Pastrnak, Marchand with Bergeron for more than a year?

At the end of the day all the mental gymnastics and justifications about who did better with these players and what not are part of the neverending excuse train to the Bruins inability to make anything other than 1 good hockey line out of 4.

I expect a quick playoff exit with the clowns right but running the show. I predict a top6 forward not coming to help 46
That is why they need to split 88 and 63, give the kids available and/or whomever can be available a chance to complete both lines. Then you need to held both duos, accountable for the team success... not their own stats.

Well, if each duo of Bergeron Marchand, DK and Pastrnak ain’t capable of doing the job, well Boston is in serious problem. And if your thoughts are on not splitting 88 and 63, in what world will it make the Bruins better who ever centers them!

i think we are a better offensive team if bergeron centers a second line.
my opinion.

we havent tried it yet but i think we should

Last point, i think is is DK and/or any other players including Bergeron, Marchand etc..to make the difference.

I respect your opinion, i disagree. Your demand does not solve any Boston’s problem... who goes against the opponents top line, on opponents ice. How can you say your affirmation that DK is better than Bergeron and saying that maybe Bergeron will make his wingers better than DK.? In your logic, the duo of 88 and 63 can’t be split...... who cares then who centers them.

Bottom line is what roster will make Boston better. Imo, you need to split the 88 and 63, stretch the line up and hope a kid will fill the hole if they can’t get a trade done.

lets say alexander oveckin and nikita kucherov were on the team... and if they played with marchand and Bergeron they would score more... but then pastrnak would be suck with cave and Nordstrom

so we put marchand there and put oveckin with cave and Nordstrom? or we put kucerov with them?

why?

someone will have to play with norstrom and cave... so... why? who? when? what?

if we had someone better than pastrnak on the team... and only 2 good players to play with... why is pastrnak the only 1 that has the right to play with the 2 good players?

shoulding Ovechkin or kucherov or pastrnak be good enough to make cave and Nordstrom better?

whoever plays with cave and Nordstrom... shouldn't those guys end up better?

and whoever plays with marchand/Bergeron... shouldn't they also be better?

its NOT ABOUT THE NAME ON THE SWEATER BACK... its about the crest on the front

I expect the coach to find the line combo that makes the team have best chance of winning. I wont care if that costs some player 15% lower point total

when people criticise krecji its not because he is scoring less points with cave and Nordstrom. its because sometimes his effort sucks

sometimes

it didn't suck this month … and it didn't suck before too. sometimes it doesn't suck. when it doesn't suck we don't criticise him as much. some fans do... those are stupid fans. I cant speak for those fans. most fans criticise when his effort isn't good enough. most fans realize he doesn't have great wingers and don't expect him to lead the league in scoring. most fans just ask that he makes his best effort when we are needing him to earn his paychecks
Who plays with Cave and Nordstrom? My top picks would be Wagner or Backes, other 4th line players.

I’m not sure what Ovechkin has to do with this, he’s arguably the greatest goal scorer of all time. Unless he had a brain transplant with Nordstrom, he wouldn’t make Nordstrom better. You can’t just put any scrub with a top line player and get results. A playmaking center is also much more reliant on his linemates then a guy like Ovechkin or Kucherov, but even those guys have mostly played with high level talents.

The Bruins won a cup with Krejci centering the two best offensive wingers and Bergeron centering a rookie. It’s not too crazy to want to see that happen again.

It's amazing how far people go to promote their agenda. To the point of discounting Bergeron's offensive abilities, despite PB having better numbers over the last 5 or so years, and a higher ppg average for his career than DK. It's fine if you (not you specifically, but the collective you) DK to play with quality guys, but doing so at the expense of a player like Bergeron isn't the way to go. Especially since Bergeron has been even more productive than DK.

Boston had depth and toughness which they don’t actually... Chris Kelly, Peverley, Ryder and the Merlot line.....
I think keeping guys like Cave and Nordstrom on the 4th line would help, but I agree with you there. I think they need to trade for a 3C, probably a rental. The wing situation might sort itself out if they tried more in-house options. Who knows, Ryder didn’t do much in the regular season then cane to life in the playoffs, one of the young wingers could do the same. A lot of luck involved no matter who is on the team.

He’s been more productive because he’s played with Marchand and Pastrnak. DK lost Lucic, Horton, Iggy and Loui.

No one is discounting Bergeron’s offensive abilities, I’m actually saying he’d be easier to play with. He plays a faster game and shoots the puck as much as he passes, he can play with shooters or playmakers. He also has a history of mentoring rookies and making them successful NHL players. I don’t think it’s us discounting Bergeron, but maybe everyone that says he needs to play with Marchand to be successful. I don’t believe that.

You said earlier in this thread DK needs to play with who they have on the team and produce. He does that at 2 points a game with Marchand and Pastrnak and now you want to end that? I don’t understand why, that line was better 5 on 5 with Krejci then it was with Bergeron.

Don’t you want to create lines based on who plays best with who? Let’s see how Bergeron can do with less experienced players. If his production has been so much better the past few years, there shouldn’t be a problem.

.77 and .75. How about playoffs?

Now do the last 3, 4, and 5 years. And again, my point wasn't that Bergeron is a far better offensive player than DK. It was that you can want better wings for DK without crapping on Bergeron since they're basically the same for their careers. Saying that DK deserves Marchand and Pasta more is flat out incorrect. Hell, even this year, they both have 30 points. Difference being that PB has it in 21 games and DK has it in 37.

BTW, one more point in 3 less games for the playoffs over their careers. Hardly the difference maker. And you tout Marchand and Pasta, but ignore the rubbish Patrice played with before he and Marchand developed that chemistry, all while DK was playing with the best wings on the team ever year. It goes both ways. And again, all I'm saying is that it's silly to rob Peter to pay Paul.

No one is crapping on Bergeron. They’re seeing Krejci play the best he’s played since he had two good wings, which was coincidentally 5 years ago. I’d be pretty interested to see what Bergeron could do with Debrusk and Bjork. I think it makes the Bruins a deeper team and I think Bergeron would be great for those guys.

So yes, Krejci has as much points in more games, so why keep going back to what isn’t working? We need more than one line in the playoffs.

And they have Pasta on his line now, no? But that's not good enough for people, I guess? Leaving Pasta there and getting JDB back should be a really solid group of wings for DK to play with. Leaving Marchand and Bergeron together and letting them take the top defensive assignment while being productive is more than enough for me. Why isn't that good enough?

Like I've said a million times about David Krejci. Why is it always him needing someone else to make his game go? Why can't he be a self starter and play with effort regardless of whom they give him? Bergeron does and he even said it earlier before he came back. He didn't care who he played with. He'd do what needs to be done. And I think keeping him and Marchand together because of their chemistry is the right thing.

So if things are even between the two, shouldn’t we be making lines based more on who plays better with who? I’m open to trying Marchand on Bergeron’s line and Krejci on Pastrnak’s, but I think it didn’t work before because Debrusk plays a different style then Krejci and Pastrnak. We’ll see though, it’ll be a step up from Nordstrom.

I’d also rather see Bjork with Bergeron over Heinen because they showed some chemistry last year.

We’ll see. I just look at Debrusk’s game and see it working better with Bergeron since they’re both players that push the pace. Hopefully splitting Marchand and Pastrnak works because they’ll have a better team if it does. Not sure Heinen is the right fit on the top line though, they need someone that can score and push the pace.

Amazing how Jake Debrusk and his 16 goals last year are the only offensive talent we've added at forward in Sweeneys time here. A total mismanagement by this front office who was gifted Chia's core. They just don't know how to add talent which highlighted by their bad trades, bad FA acquisitions, and huge misses in the draft. At least Chia was able to give Krejci players that could score such as Horton Iggy and Loui. Sweeney cant compete in this aspect

Nash without a concussion would have certainly helped. He was the shooter that DK needed to ride with, but shit luck happened. But overall, Sweeney and the staff's ability to scout pro players is suspect.

I don't know. I think JDB looked pretty solid shooting the puck after a bit of a slow start. And really, DK needs a guy that will shoot, and crash. That's it, and I think JDB can be that guy. Ideally, Pasta DK and JDB gel and this all becomes a non-issue.

if you are asking me who I put together as coach...

I do try to break up the big 4 into pairs. I leave marchand with either pastrnak or Bergeron... then the other guy left over I try with krejci

honestly I think krejci/Bergeron might work great together... but then your 2 best centers are together

for a 3rd line I put backes/kuraly with someone... I like that someone to be a new guy with some scoring ability

and I put the kids on the 4th line... maybe with Nordstrom

I put cave in ahl and wagner in the pressbox

That is where i meet your analysis. If they can’t find help they need to split 88 and 63 now and put the kids in a position to see how they can managetop six minutes before tradeline... if the puzzle fall in place, then Boston might go for a tough physical presence in th bottom 6 and/or search for help on the bottom 6 also.
