Youppiiii

TT will get another 10 yrs as head of scouting for this one like he did for 2007 draft

As great as Caufield looks like he will be, it doesn't erase the steaming pile of poop that is drafting Kotkaniemi ahead of Tkachuk and Hughes.

What was wrong with Cammalleri's attitude? One of the few guys on that Gauthier era of garbage teams who wasn't happy to go along with the team's loser mindset.

Cammalleri's a good comparable IMO, has basically been that long since we've had a first shot sniper with any panache. I'm so excited to keep watching him play and develop, most excited I've been for a prospect since Subban.

Cammy trying to carve out Nino's eyeball during a pre-season game showed just how much of a gamer he really was.

That’s what I don’t see with KK..

He’s an alright player but doesn’t step up in big moments. Not what you want in a third overall pick.
?
He was probably our best player outside of Price in the playoffs last year.

Don't bother. KK will have his breakout year within the next two years and all these guys will pretend they liked him the whole time. He doesn't have bad habits off the ice and seems to take his summers seriously, I'm not worried like with Chucky where we heard bad things about drugs, his dad, partying, and vacationing instead of training.

We all heard the rumours about partying and stuff but "he didn't work hard enough in the gym" is probably the very last thing you could ever criticize Galchenyuk for. Conditioning and offseason training was never an issue with him.

He was able to make to the 2018 draft with the herrendous draft record from 2008 to to 2014.

If he can make it passed that, he will make it passed the 2018 draft

That's what you get when you bring in a barely 18 year old into this league.

I still think Kotkaniemi will become a good player but he won't be the 60 point center we all hoped for

Conditioning and strength training sure, but we got plenty of reports of him training in Spain and southern Europe where he likely wasn't in contact with NHL-level players. He needed to be training his game, not his body. Look at how Mackinnon's game exploded after training with Crosby for example. Not that Chucky was all that bad, but he definitely didn't work on his weak points for a long time.

Kotkaniemi is noticeably better in a few areas he was weak in last year. Skating, shooting(needs better shot selection), defending, and puck control. I think the issue is he was training with Armia. He should find a better partner to help him find his offensive game.

It's been awhile since we have a top offensive forward. Maybe our best offensive forward since Kovalev. Everytime he has the puck, we could expect a scoring chance. He'll be a Calder candidate next season!

I would still call for patience.

I went to the Hans game in Jersey last year. I noticed some talent in Pavel Zacha, even though he didn't get on the score sheet and wasn't priducing. I hadn't known him well before. I asked Devils fans about him I was sitting near. They said don't even get me started on Zacha, what a waste of a 6th overall pick.

Now this year, at 24, Zacha is starting to produce. KK has some talent. How much? We'll see. But what he's doing now isn't necessarily what he'll do in 2 or 3 years.

This team is going to be dangerous once Gallagher is playing again. They're going to have to watch Gallagher AND Caufield.

CC still needs to learn the 5v5 game in the NHL. Hopefully he can learn how to find space for himself. We need him to be our superstar, not only a uni dimensional/PP specialist.

Yes, Gallagher, Caufield, and Toffoli/Anderson back to back to back will be a nice wave of threats.

Finding another good American player will be used to justify another decade of American high school unknowns who have impressive bench pressing skills.
Both his father and mother are Canadians. His whole family is Canadian. He just happened to be born in the U.S. and I doubt that he even really thinks of himself as an American. He probably went the USNTDP route instead of representing Canada because they have a history of accepting smaller players.

No he wasn't. He was good, but definitely now our best skater. Suzuki was by far our best skater. Armia/Drouin were better too.
Suzuki's three extra assists do not outweigh the other play. Suzuki played well for sure but he was about even possession wise. KK was an absolute beast at 60. He totally controlled the play when he was on the ice in a way that nobody else was able to match.

Here's the thing with Cole...

You know how coaches tell players to put pucks to the net and "good things might happen" ?

Well, that's not how Cole operates. Cole shoots to score a goal. He doesn't shoot to just shoot it. Cole shoots to score. You don't pick corners like that on the regular with a "put the puck to the net" mentality.

That's why the kid will score a lot of goals in this league. Like, a lot.
