Has nothing to do with perspective, they are nearly an equal distance from the camera and there shoulders may even be touching.
My friends a scout and told me but cant say more than that. What was the wilds offer out of curiosity?
Is this guy 12, or in his 20s ?
Turcotte going to Wisconsin still ? If he's not, Caufield might have a hard time scoring...
They are not, Gallagher is in front.
I think you are the one who needs to brush up on perspective as I am clearly referring to a point of intersection at the shoulders where they are touching.
You have no way to know if they are touching. Gallagher's shoulder is front of that intersection.
I really hope I’m wrong on this one but I wasn’t excited about Caufield before the draft, and wasn’t just his size, it’s cause he reminded me of myself more than any other prospect I’ve seen. I’m about 5’ 8” and have been nothing but a sniper my entire life in hockey - obviously not as great a shot as this kids - but it’s typically amongst the best on any team I played for. I do really well amongst my level of competition, I feast on weaker teams but against tougher teams I disappear more than any of my other teammates. If I play on a line where they’re not trying to get me the puck I disappear as I can’t win puck battles and can’t create offense. No way to say this without sounding like a dick but when I watch his goals I don’t sit there WOW’d cause I don’t see it translating to the NHLWell, he appears to be able to do that at the level he’s at. Just a fan here, but 80% of the goals I’ve seen him score involved making room for himself. Not perfect passes and just shooting. Just my .02. Be good brother!

I don’t see him crashing the net like a Gallagher or blazing speed like a Byron to beat d-men, I don’t see him beating a goalie from outside the circles like an Ovi or Laine.
I see him almost like a PP specialist sitting on the backdoor and my fear is Montreal has never been good at giving away top 6 spots or PP time to talented kids and he won’t make it as a bottom 6 player. As I said I’m really hoping I’m wrong and he’s the elite winger we’ve been wanting for decades so I’m ok with the home run swing but I have very tempered expectations

Sorry man, you need to read up on optics. That picture was taken with a telephoto that vastly amplifies any difference. Gallagher is definitely closer to the camera. You can tell by his right arm displacing Marchand's left side of the body. Gally is probably half a foot closer to the camera. Seeing as the photo was probably taken with a 200 mm lens, that half a foot difference makes a hell of a difference.Has nothing to do with perspective, they are nearly an equal distance from the camera and there shoulders may even be touching.
He's no Andrei KostitsynDoes anyone know if this kid has the hockey smarts to be elite? Does he know where the puck is going to end up? I mean, the sort of Gretzky like talent on which one would put a premium? Also, were there any stats showing his propensity to get into spaces into which the puck was assumed to be dropped in?
Thnx asking for a friend.
This kid has the hockey smarts to be elite. He knows where the puck is going to end up. That's Grezky like talent I put a premium on. Like I posted earlier the kid was number one on the team in ending up in the spots where the puck was assumed to be dropped in. I love that kind of stat more then anything.
Add in his elite heavy quick release shot and bingo!!! We got a first line elite player here that teams will be kicking themselves over not drafting.
Sorry I forgot the LWOS disclaimer, my game is reminiscent of Cole Caufield, but this is a stylistic comparison only and not one based on skill or abilityI wouldn’t compare yourself to one of the most dominant goal scorers in USNDP history.
I've said it before but when people often say about a KK or a Suzuki that 'he'll be really good but he won't be a saviour', I think this kid has the best chance out of anyone in our org that could fit the bill of 'saviour'. I think he's our crown jewel. People can think this is shiny new toy syndrome or whatever but I think he has the upside to do it. It's great that he can do other things too besides shoot and the compete level's there.
I still really can't gauge KK's true upside so maybe you have a Kane/Toews like situation (not asserting or denying they'll be as good as Toews and Kane) but I feel like Caufield's upside is more tangible than maybe KK's is at least imo.
If McDavid can't save a team then it's pretty safe bet that no single player can be a saviour.
Most exciting pick since Galchenyuk?
Let me guess, you're cautiously pessimistic about this pickSince Scherback for sure, our other 'steal of the first round'.
Are you surprisedLet me guess, you're cautiously pessimistic about this pick
