He has played for four teams in his career. The one he was drafted by and two teams he was traded to. How is he a mercenary?

There's a reason he waited until now. He probably wants to go for a Cup but also needs to make as much money as he can so was waiting on an offer. At some point you realize you gotta get out there for a training camp so he decided to suck it up and take less money. Prolly could've signed for 2 years, 6 mil with Columbus.

I thought about it enough. Followed him for years. I highly doubt you did. He’s a loser. If you’re happy with regular season success and then that 50-60 point forward turning into an ECHLer when your team needs him the most, so be it.

If only he played like the 9 million dollar playoff stud Timo Meir, maybe you guys could have won the cup.

If Landy does manage to make it back for the playoffs and the rest of the team is healthy come then they actually could ice a pretty decent forward group now.

This is an OUTSTANDING addition for the Avs. Can’t stress enough how perfect this fit is to round out their middle 6 and put everyone else in their best possible place/role/position for their most optimal forward lineup. They were still looking about one man short. Not anymore. Now this is a very scary looking overall lineup IF they can stay healthy.

Yup, if you eventually add a healthy Landeskog to what they now already have then IMO they become quite possibly the most dangerous team in the league. But this requires guys like Byram and Nichuskin and Manson and Landy and Makar and MacK and so on to all be healthy and active at once and this rarely seems to happen….so we’ll see. But the talent is there for sure.

He can win a cup and get a nice payday. It's been working with the Avalanche lately. If not Cup at least a great payday..

Not a bad idea at all.

The owners absolutely fleeced the players in the last CBA negotiations… Has there ever been a worse CBA for any particular athletes, in sports history??

Perfect fit at a perfect cap hit. He will help them win without accruing too much salary. Then they can trade for a playoff performer who will take his spot when games truly matter. Brilliant 3D chess move.

didn't players use to be free agents a 31?
The argument will be, what does it matter when you can’t get paid anyway? But yea. I can’t even remember how long ago, and it’s been stages in how it’s gone down over the years too.

I just feel bad for your 4th line guys the most. Those were their best paid years, and the cap situation really has shortened careers lately.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice for Colorado that they can add 20 goals for $1.5, but him taking that money, took from someone making $1.7, who took from someone making $1.3, etc. In fact, Tatar himself talked about it recently. Almost apologizing to a player who was supposed to be traded to make space for him. Obviously that deal never came to be, but it really does effect everyone, except your top money makers. So it was just a bad deal for the NHLPA.
