I always thought he was a pretty valuable player and somewhat surprised by the Chris Kelly hate. The problem was the way Claude used him- like he has Kevan Miller incorrectly that has led to both these players catching grief for performing outside their job description.

Kelly is a Clode Binky.
How will people feel if Spooner has a bad game or two, missed a defensive assignment, and is demoted and Kelly is centering the 3rd line ?

These are good points. But the Kelly "hate" started for me because of asset management. Not because of his play on the ice. And obviously sometimes it was frustrating because Kelly would be plugged in every lineup hole because he was Juliens favorite toy

We let a 5 million dollar #2 defensemen go for picks but we keep a 3 million dollar #3/#4C? That is baffling and embarrassing and our team is ****ed for the next 4 years because of it.

No doubt Kelly is a useful player in the right role. But when your management makes decisions like that contempt starts brewing.

I firmly agree with every point made here. :handclap:

I will march my ass down to Boston to picket for Clode's head. Seriously, most of us know that this could actually happen to which is just downright ridiculous.

If, if, Kelly can make it back before the Bruins season is done (I'm guessing no earlier than the East Finals before Kelly might be ready), I wouldn't mind seeing this line-up.

Marchand - Bergeron - Stempniak
Eriksson - Krejci - Pastrnak
Belesky - Spooner - Connolly
Kelly - Acciari - Ferraro

5-6 face-off guys, EIGHT forwards who can kill penalties. Claude would be in heaven.

Clode would be in full pants tent mode

If Kelly returns, then I expect him to see time centering the third line at some point. Julien can't help himself.

I could see him on the 3rd line, but I could see him being along the wall and Hayes watching from upstairs, or Connolly on the 4th

Hayes has brought absolutely nothing, he has great size but plays like he is 5-8. If he used his body better he would be phenomal. I think i like to see what kelly can bring after his injury. We know he is a elite defender at forward and he could help mask our shaky backend. I mean beleksky,spooner-kelly would be solid since both kelly and beleksky go to the net and will help spooner with his bad defense a lot. If he plays on the 4th line i am against it. The guys on the 4th are building something and we need to let them develop chemistry together. We have been messing around with the 4th line way too much this season nobody can get comfortable and find their role.

It would be quite amazing if he makes it back to play this playoffs. Broken femur - holy crap. The biggest and strongest bone in the body.

I'm picturing Kelly pushing the doors open a la Aragorn returning from having been thought dead in "The Two Towers."

I am a Chris Kelly fan and am rooting for his return.

As another poster pointed out, Hayes has been invisible. I don't believe the Bruins can afford to have someone like this on their roster. I don't know enough to say he's a "passenger," and maybe someone can enlighten me.

But, I don't see him sticking here, because he's not giving the B's anything. They aren't good enough to carry a streaky scorer who apparently doesn't use his size to full advantage.

Sweeney may be reluctant to cut him loose, as he was the fellow who brought Hayes in. And I realize JH is young.

Connolly has slotted in very well on the fourth line. It's a perfect role for him. I don't see where Hayes fits...

Kevan Miller when he lands next year as a bottom pair D man will show he has good value and is a good player.

Kelly in a bottom 6 roll especially 4th line is an asset. He can play LW and if you put him out there with Acciari and Ferraro I'll take that over any 4th line in hockey and I took a list around and I like the speed, smarts, and defensive component these guys would give you- and allow Krejci and Bergeron to use their energy elsewhere

other than the Caps a healthy Boston is going to be tough out in the East

I was thinking about that. Re-signing him at 1.25 ~ 1.5M would be a good idea. Then trade Hayes for a bag of pucks and Connolly playing on the third line.

I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.

So you're advocating keeping Chris Kelly on the 3rd line, in what would likely be the Eastern Conference finals or Stanley Cup Finals(should we somehow make it there)? Coming back from a BROKEN FEMUR, not having played in roughly 7 months. Just so that you can try to make your 4th line more comfortable? Im sorry but I pass. No thanks. At best Kelly is a 4th line PK specialist. His hockey brain is not failing him. His body may be.

Drake Ryshma of the Ottawa 67's broke his left femur on Nov 6. Surgery and rehab and returned to game action on February 15.

Anything is possible

Acciari gonna lose his job.

Hope not. Chris Kelly can play all 3 forward positions (probably even defense knowing that guy,) I would keep Acciari up with Boston and drop somebody else. I don't know who though.

Even if Acciari centers the 4th line that doesn't mean he has to take faceoffs in a 1-1 game with five minutes to go.

I agree Kelly could come back before the expected timetable. Anything is possible. But I feel like age has to be considered a large factor in something like this. A 35 year old man versus a 17 year old kid. Like you said though, anything is possible.

This. I posted it a couple pages back and people laughed at me. We'll see who's laughing when Spooner is on the wing or 4th line.

I love Spooner but if he isnt producing Claude cant do **** about it. Cant fault him fro trying something else but i dont think that will happen anyway.
Hayes and Connolly are the ones who need to be gone though.

My understanding was that he's just skating/rehabbing with the team, not taking contact.

Feel like there's still a ways to go before we start talking about him actually slotting in the line up again.

If Kelley is skating then I would venture to guess ( barring any set backs ) that he could be ready when the playoffs start one month from today.

he may not start but sooner or later he will be inserted in the line up

More like Jimmy Hayes or Brett Connolly going to lose their jobs.

Acciari won't lose his job to Kelly, he'll lose his job if he doesn't continue to seize his opportunity and play well.

Agreed 100%

Both Connolly and Hayes should sit before Acciari.
