that wasn't exactly the crux of my argument but do you think 9 and 16 are about the same or 1 and 10?That 9 pick difference between the two must really set them apart in every GM's mind.

Still missing my point but that's fine.
At least the B's and Caron are on the same page and hopefully a trade can be worked out that benefits both sides.

Nobody is saying trading Caron will provide cap relief. But if you're going to trade an RFA, for whatever return, you have to sign him first. And they should get some return. He's young, good-sized, and has NHL experience. He's not as bad as some here believe he is.

If I had to give up Caron for a late pick I'd rather keep him. I like you believe he's not as bad as he's made out to be.
There are not to many Jamie Benn's out there in the late rounds. The odds are slim.
For a Cash strapped team he might be what allows you to sign or trade for an experienced player to take Iggy's vacant spot. I would take Caron on the fourth line if it meant I could sign a good player to play RW 1st Line.
There are many possible scenarios, but I just think it would be better for both Caron and the Bruins if he moves on.
As noted before, though, the angst by some here is amusing. Whether they keep or trade Caron, they had to sign him first.
I get your point Ali, but your numbers are incorrect
2011/12 he earned $738,872 ($648,872 + $90,000 signing bonus)
2012/13 he earned $318,038 ($228,038 + $90,000 signing bonus)
2013/14 he earned $640,00
2014/15 he'll earn $600,000
He never earned $1.1 million and the drop can be quantified by the fact that he just wasn't good enough to be an everyday player in the NHL and earned an AHL salary instead of an NHL Salary.
$600,000 is above the $527,000 average he's earned over the last 3 years.

Our first line RW dilemma solved at last.
I'm tired of watching him, even with the limited icetime he gets, hopefully he isn't back but he probably will be evidently there are not alot of suitors.
Evidently? Source?

The funny thing about Caron, if he could contribute...it's the exact contract that I want/4th line players SHOULD be getting.
None of this 1.6M nonsense. None of this 3M with NTC nonsense...but a fair deal based on a players skill level. A sub 1M 4th line player is what you're looking for there.
Now the issue, I don't believe Caron can contribute significantly...
