No idea why people are so obsessed with Torres. There are lots of better players that don't come with any of the potential baggage that Torres does. Just don't know why people are keying in on this so much.

Hell, if the Canucks were picking up a bottom 6 player from Phoenix, I'd rather overpay for BoGo and then move Roy up to the 2nd line...

with torres you get a guy that can when he wants to get you great goals. but what he is, on every shift you have to have your head up if not he is gonna hit you and put you in the 2nd row. that is what he had become when he was in vancouver. I still remember him from his edmonton days when he could hit ya hard and fair then score off both posts and the crowd goes wild :yo:

thats the draw of torres

I remember reading that the reason they didn't re-sign wa because the Canucks' collection of nice guys (Higgins, Raymond, Sedins, Schneider, Hamhuis, etc.) found him to be kind of a dirty, rude, boorish guy.

Wasn't that why Higgins considered not re-signing?

I would love to see Torres back. Put him on a line with Lapierre and Kassian. Best 4th line in the NHL.

Higgs Broson called BS on that last night

I personally don't understand what the deal with Boyd Gordon is

But then again I don't know enough about him, I know enough about Torres

What does Boyd Gordon bring other than filling a positional need of which we have now addressed

I'm not saying Torres is a bad player, just that I don't know why people want him so badly.

Is this still the case though?

I haven't watched too many Coyotes games this year, but I haven't seen any Youtube videos of Torres blowing people up this season. He said he was going to change his game after the Hossa hit.

I don't know either.

it was like the obsession with getting Moen last year. All of these scrubs are a dime a dozen

If Raymond doesn't sign an extension tomorrow, he will be traded.

The Canucks are not going to allow a 27 year old to become a UFA and get nothing for him.

Then again...with Booth injured, they may need May Ray.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
------Kesler------
Higgins-Roy-Hansen
Kassian-Lapierre-Weise

Unless Kassian moves up with Pinizzotto sticking on the 4th, or Jensen sticks around, the Canucks will need another winger WITHOUT losing Raymond.

He'd basically fill Malhotra's role which arguably hasn't been filled. Great on face-offs(over 58%), solid defensively, decent size, basically the protypical 4th line center and PK anchor. I wouldn't break the bank for him, but a mid-round pick or average prospect? Sure.

not sure, all I know is he always plays hard nosed against the 'nucks and gets good goals, always has. he has a great shot btw.

I would be down with that, Faceoffs have not been good for us

Malhotra won every face off ever taken, even when he was on the bench, but up in the press box he is a NHL Record low 0%.......

58% is good but its not specialist good

I would love a Peca 2.0

Watched some of the last Blackhawk series during the Lockout, and he is a hard nosed player that generates offence in the playoffs, well he did, better then I can see any of our bottom 6 doing at the mo.

i dont know why everyone wants to get rid of may ray. He has done nothing but improve every year he has been here. He is homegrown and likes it here. The only off year was coming off major back injury/

Yeah, he's one of those guys that steps up during the playoffs. I wouldn't overpay to land him, but I hope Gillis at least kicks the tires on him.

I'm really f'ing excited that when Kesler is healthy our third line right now is Chris Higgins - Derek Roy - Jannik Hansen.

That is so awesome.

He had 20 shots in 23 postseason games with the Canucks and only 7 points. I don't draw many conclusions from that, but I just find it surprising that people look back on his time here with such reverence. Not really making a judgement call here -- just really amazed that so many people want to re-acquire him.

Personally, I think he's an inferior winger to guys the Canucks already have, but he could be a 4th line upgrade. Still not a real need I think they need to address.

Torres single handily makes a team physical. Scares the crap outta the opposition and is a very capable hockey player. Should have never got rid of him, worth paying something to bring him back.

That is so awesome.

If they stick together, it gives us a huge advantage in the playoffs.

That being said, I just can't see the Canucks entering the playoffs with Kesler on the second line between Raymond and Kassian.

I suspect the 3rd line will be split up and someone like Roy or maybe Higgins will be promoted to the 2nd.

Mostly money. If he wants a raise we can't afford him... And he's been to arbitration twice, so he seems like a guy that will go for the cash.

Along with the fact that he has terrible production historically in the playoffs.
