They wanted to give him a 1 year deal and he signed for 2 with Phoenix.

Similar to Willie Mitchell getting more in LA and term.

That makes sense, but is that one extra year really that big of a difference for a player making 1.75?

If the asking price is a 3rd rounder no way I want him.

We could get a better player for that, I would maybe do a 4th at the absolute most.

Seems you have quite a skewed view on the value of draft picks. First rounders (outside of top 10ish) have HIGH value, 2nd rounders have mid-low value, 3rd rounders (and we would be talking about a late 3rd rounder) have low value.

Put it this way, the difference between a late 3rd rounder and a late 4th rounder isn't "no way I want him" and "I would maybe do it"

No thanks to Pominville. That's too much to give up. Especially considering the Canucks are already pushing close to the cap. No way they're able to retain him AND Roy.
