Actually, that's false. Similarly to Scherbak in 2015-2016, Fleury's contract would slide if he signed am ELC right now because he'd start the season as a 19 year old (turns 20 in November). Because he'd be 19 years old to start the season, the contract would slide to next year ( as long as he doesn't play 10 NHL games). He would, however, lose a year of waiver exemption.
We can still pull a Brook?
sign him and send him back to junior?

Yes, automatic if you send him to junior. The exception is playing pro while being 19 at the start of the season. Your contract also slides in the ECHL and AHL, as long as you don't play 10 NHL games.

This seems like the best course for both the Habs and Fleury this season. I hear he’s looking solid in the Laval camp. Will he start the year in the AHL?

What about Despres? Gotta think he is on his way down there as well
Yeah, propably, but Ive been reading reports saying that its gonna be Laval or the Swiss league for Despres. With Moravick, Schlenika, Kulak and Benn/Ouellet, Im not sure that we need him with the Rocket.

Very happy with this. He'll play in Laval. And even if he plays in AHL, his 1st year will slide. So effectively, this is a 4-year deal.

Lernout will be the only defenseman who was with Laval last year that will be there this season. Plan had a few games on a PTO at the end of the season. Other than that, this is a completely new D-Corps.

Last year: Taormina, Valiev, Lernout, Leblanc, Parisi, Lernout, Gelinas, Bourque, and a bunch of others who passed through.

This year: Moravcik, Sklenicka, Kulak, Olofsson, Fleury, Lernout, Melancon, Culkin, Lamarche. Some of them will end up in ECHL.

Big roster turnover.

Lernout and Fleury are the only Right handed D right?
