I don't know if it is an excuse, but hus stats have always been below expectations. That said, he led his team again.Stat watching Nathan Smith - looks like he didn't improve his output this season.
Anyone have an excuse that will save him from being in my doghouse?

I do believe the predators called him saying he was on there board in the 4th. His agent was in Dallas at the draft and called Nate to tell him there is know way he makes it pass the 5th round.

Interesting that virtually all reports have him as a dynamic skater, yet one that posted here said his skating was a weak point.
Whoa, TLDR. Maybe try summarizing things a bit in your replies?
how do you like his development? what's his upside?
His development has been solid but he's also an older collegiate player.
I am hoping for a Mason Appelton type player from him.
Didn't know if you guys heard this about Nate, around the 7 min mark they start talking about him.

Thanks for the link! Great to hear about him. Wonder if Jets intended to sign him as an Appleton replacement but he felt there wasn’t enough of a guarantee to make the jump this year. God knows we need more right handed forwards.
Yeah Appelton would be his absolute upside imo. One more year in college isn't going to hurt him.

Yeah, but we can always hope, right? Not a fan of the pick. Seems like very poor pick value for an over age player in the USHL.
